Lot 181.  15 Baseballs Signed by Cincy Reds – Anderson, Bench, Perez, Seaver, Rose, Etc. Excellent collection of one-time Cincinnati Reds. Unless otherwise noted, these autographs are mint 9s and gem mint 10s, single-signed on official A.L., N.L. or MLB baseballs. Sparky Anderson (sweet spot, vg-ex ball with uneven toning), Johnny Bench (8-9 signature, south panel, ball has strong pre-printed areas and some uneven toning), Tom Browning (west panel, ex-m ball), Eric Davis (south panel, vg+ to ex ball), Ray Knight (south panel, vg+ to ex ball), Paul O’Neill (north panel, personalized, some uneven toning), Dave Parker (west panel, vg-ex ball), Tony Perez (east panel, ex-m), Gary Redus (south panel, significant uneven toning), Pete Rose (sweet spot, evenly and somewhat heavily toned ball), Pete Rose II (sweet spot, heavily and evenly toned ball), Tom Seaver (east panel of an ex Tom Seaver ball), Chris Sabo (sweet spot, nm-m 8 signature and ball), Mario Soto (east panel, ex+ ball) and Kurt Stillwell (east panel, vg+ to ex ball). Lot 208.  Cincinnati Reds First Three Yearbooks - 1947-49. The 1947 yearbook, which has Bucky Walters and Ewell Blackwell on the cover, is rare and vg-ex; there is a 1” split at the top of the spine. Rookie Ted Kluszewski is among the players pictured. The 1948 (vg) and 1949 (vg+, owner’s name inside) also are uncommon. These three offerings are the key to a Reds yearbook collection.

Lot 209.  Run of 41 Cincinnati Reds Yearbooks - 1951-91. The Reds did not issue a yearbook in 1950. This run is complete from 1951 through 1991. The 1951 and 1952 editions are comparatively scarce. They grade, respectively, vg and ex with a corner crease. Other issues from the 1950s grade: 1953 (the Reds are now the Red Stockings) ex, 1954 (yearbook pictures Chuck Harmon and Nino Escalera, the team’s first African-American players) vg, 1955 (the Red Stockings become the Redlegs) g+, 1956 (Frank Robinson and Curt Flood yearbook debut) ex-m, 1957 ex-m+, 1958 g-vg, and 1959 (the Reds are back) vg. From the early 1960s: 1960 vg, 1961 nm, 1962 ex-m+ (1/4” split at top of spine), 1963 (Pete Rose debut) vg and 1964 vg+. Issues from 1965-91 are generally nm or better with a few less. HoFers in the pre-printed lineups are Roush, Rixey, Carey, Traynor and Maranville. 1930, vs. Boston, two panels, neatly scored, vg+. 1947, vs. St. Louis, four panels, vg. 1948, vs. the Giants, 16 pages, small cover tear, otherwise vg-ex. 1949, vs. Giants, 12 pages, Ted Kluszewski profiled, scored, ex. 1950, vs. Giants, eight pages, Ewell Blackwell profiled, partially scored, vg. 1957, vs. Phils, two panels, scored, ex. 1960, vs. Pittsburgh, vg+ to ex. Autographed in pencil on the front cover by Harvey Haddix, Virgil Trucks and Dick Schofield; mint 9 signatures. 1961, vs. Chicago, scored, toned inside from a news clipping, ex. Vs. Dodgers, g-vg.
