Lot 237.  Autograph of Tom Lombardo, QB and Captain of Army’s 1944 Undefeated Team. Featuring Glenn Davis and Doc Blanchard, the 1944 Cadets captured the national championship while crushing nine opponents and outscoring them 504-35. Lombardo died in Korea in 1950 while leading his men in an assault on an enemy position. He was only 27. His autograph is highly coveted but exceedingly rare. Here is an nm-m 8 to mint 9 signature on a 2” x 3” newspaper photo. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 239.  24 1980 Topps Football 3 Packs. Eack 3 Pack contains three 1980 wax packs with 12 cards each, for a total 72 wax packs housing 864 cards. Key potential cards in the packs are Walter Payton, Tony Dorsett, Terry Bradshaw and rookie cards of Otis Anderson and Phil Simms. Listed prices for the individual wax packs are in the $3 to $8 range.

Lot 241.  Scarce Program for the 1953 NFL Championship Game – Lions vs. Browns. Playing on home turf at Briggs Stadium, Detroit captured its second straight NFL title with a 17-16 win over Cleveland. The covers of the 64-page program are detached, and the front cover has writing on it and a 2” tear. The pages are complete and ex overall; the center spread is loose. There are pencil notations on the rosters. The program pictures numerous stars, including Layne, Walker, Christiansen, Lary, McGraw, Schmidt, Creekmur and Hart for Detroit and Graham, Willis, Renfro, Lavelli, Ford, Groza, Motley, Atkins, Gatski and Michaels for Cleveland. This example may not win any beauty contests, but then, there aren’t many of these beauties around, either!

Lot 242.  11 Pittsburgh Steelers Programs, 1973 Prospectus, Three Rivers Dedication, Etc. Ten of the programs span 1965-73. The Aug. 28, 1970 program is for the football dedication of Three Rivers Stadium and a game vs. the Giants. Vg+ to ex. Six programs are for games at Pitt Stadium: 1965 vs. the Eagles, vg+ to ex. 1966 vs. the Eagles, vg+ to ex, and the Lions, vg, chip on the back at the bottom of the spine. 1968 vs. the Eagles, ex, and the Giants, vg+ to ex. 1971 vs. the Browns, ex. 1972 vs. the Raiders, ex, and the Patriots, ex-m. 1973 vs. the Lions, ex-m, light, minor foxing along the bottom edge of the front cover. 2007 vs. the Browns, nm-m. The 40-page 1973 Pre-Season Prospectus provides an overview of the team, including 1973 draft choices. Ex. Lot 243.  Pro Football Hall of Fame and Induction Memorabilia. More than 25 items, many from the Hall of Fame Festival or the Enshrinees Civic Dinner. Generally, the items are nm or better. 1. Plastic bank model of the HoF building, 5” in diameter and 4” tall, ex-m. 2. Mayor’s Breakfast mirror in the shape of a football, 10 ¼” across x 6 ½”, with the names of 1981 enshrinees, Badgro, Blanda, Willie Davis and Ringo. Enshrinees Civic Dinner: 3. Photo in a metal 5 ½” x 7” frame with facsimile signatures of the 1999 class – Newsome, Shaw, Taylor, Mack and Dickerson. 4-7. Metal and vinyl coasters or paperweights with enshrinees names for 1995, 1996 and 1997 (2). 8. Four leather coasters, each with a portrait of a 1981 class member. 9. 1994 Post-It Note holder with names of enshrinees. 10. 7” 1982 tray. Hall of Fame Festival: 11-12. Two 2 ½” patches. 13. Small tray from the 1984 Fashion Show Luncheon. Dinner and Festival: 14. 1979 marble paperweight, ex. 15. Paperclip-style paper holder from 1978. 16. Decorative, attractive container with a cut-glass appearance, 2” x 3 ¾” x 3 ¾”. 17-18. Two decorative 6” trays or ash trays, apparently pewter from 1976. 19-28. 10 HoF Medal Society 1 ½” medallions, five with a brass finish and five with a pewter finish. 29. 14” beer or serving tray featuring a photo of the HoF structure, ex.

Lot 244.  1992 Pro Bowl Woman’s Watch from the Estate of Ernie Stautner. Attractive watch with the face in gold color showing a receiver catching a pass as the sun shines in the background over palm trees and ocean. Type says “Pro Bowl, AFC NFC, 1992 Hawaii.” The watch, which isn’t working and apparently needs to have a battery replaced, is ex-m to nm with a vg-ex leather band. Stautner was an assistant coach for the NFC and apparently gave the watch to his wife. The watch was originally offered by Collectors Ltd. (Pat Quinn) with a number of items from the Stautner family.

Lot 245.  Autographs of 8 Heisman Trophy Winners Including Blanchard and Davis. “Mr. Inside” and “Mr. Outside” are the keys to this group. Both signatures are 10s, Doc Blanchard on an unlined index card, and Glenn Davis on an 8” x 10” b&w photo. These “Touchdown Twins” led Army to the national championship in 1945, which Blanchard won the Heisman Trophy. Davis finished second, and then captured the award in 1946. Davis passed away in 2005, and Blanchard, earlier this year. The other autographs are on an 8” x 10” photo of the Heisman Trophy: Gary Beban, Early Campbell, Steve Owens, John Cappelletti, Charlie Ward and Johnny Lattner. All but Campbell added the year he won the award. These autographs are 10s. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
