Baseball Programs, Yearbooks and Tickets   4 Lots

Lot 214.  1933 Washington at New York World Series Program Scored for Game 2. The Giants’ Hal Schumacher limited the Senators to five hits in a 6-1 win that gave New York a two-game lead in the series. The Giants captured the World Championship in five games; only the first two games were played at the Polo Grounds. The 20-page oversized (9 ¼” x 11”) program is neatly scored. It was vertically folded and has a ¼” tears along the top and bottom edges, a tiny corner chip on the front and creases in the corners. The covers and pages are clean. The pages picture a host of Hall of Fame players and executives: Bill Terry, Carl Hubbell, Mel Ott, Travis Jackson, Joe Cronin, Heine Manush, Goose Goslin, Sam Rice, Judge Landis, William Harridge, John McGraw and Clark Griffith. Moe Berg, Nick Altrock and Al Schacht are also shown with the Senators. The front cover displays well with excellent period graphics.
Winning Bid $150.

Lot 215.  12 American League Season Passes, 1946, 1947-56, 1958 and 1959. These passes, all with the facsimile signature of A.L. president Wm Harridge, entitled the holder and a friend to attend games in every American League park. Printed on heavy paper, they are 2 ¾” x 4 ¼” and have the years embossed. The 1946 pass is vg-ex. The others range from ex to nm-m. The 1953 pass has a small area of stray ink, and several have a very slight bow, apparently a result of the embossing process. What fun it must have been to have these and watch Williams in Boston, DiMaggio and Mantle in New York, and other stars of the era.
Winning Bid $168.

Lot 216.  1949 Brooklyn Dodgers Yearbook with Jackie Robinson. This version of the yearbook has a generic Dodger against Ebbets Field on the cover and devotes one-half of page 19 to the barrier-busting star. Don Newcombe and Carl Erskine are rookies in this 48-page yearbook, and Chuck Connors is among the “Future Dodgers.” Pee Wee Reese, Gil Hodges, Roy Campanella, Carl Furillo and Duke Snider are pictured. Ex yearbook with a crease in the upper right corner and a ¼” split along the top of the spine.
Winning Bid $83.
