 Lot 231. 1979 Michigan Sports HoF Program Signed by Orlick, Morrall, Newhouser, Etc. In 1979, Warren Orlick and Earl Morrall were inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame. Both signed the cover of the program, and their signatures grade 9-10. Known as “Mr. Rules,” Orlick was president of the Professional Golfers Association 1971-72. He passed away in 2003. An All-American at Michigan State in 1955, Morrall had a pro football career that spanned 21 seasons. Other football players who signed the program, primarily by their photos, are Joe Schmidt, Ron Kramer and Vince Banonis. Mrs. Ace Gutowksy also signed; her late husband, the Detroit Lions fullback, also was a 1979 HoF inductee. Another golfer in the HoF, Chuck Kocsis, also signed. Baseball is represented by autographs of Chas Gehringer, Hal Newhouser and Joe Garagiola. Basketball contributors who signed are Jake Mazer, Bob Calihan, Cincy Sachs and Lofton Greene.
