Lot 10.  PSA-Graded 1938 Churchman “Boxing Personalities” Set of 50. This popular set averages PSA EX-MT 6 with 10 cards less than ex-m, only one less than ex and eight better than ex-m. VG-EX 4: #20 Johnson. EX 5: #3 Baer, 5, 26 Louis (strong ex), 32, 33, 36, 44 and 49. EX+ 5.5: #12 Dempsey. Lot 140.  Scarce 1910 T223 Dixie Queen Card of Joe Wagner Graded SGC 40 VG 3. SGC Dixie Queen 50s are being offered on the Internet for $499. This is a very nice 40.

Lot 141.  Uncommon, Outstanding 1910 National Police Gazette Premium of Jack Johnson. Only days after the appearance of this premium, which is dated June 25, Johnson knocked out James J. Jeffries in a bout in Reno to retain the heavyweight title. It was the last time he fought in the U.S. until 1928. The premium, about 11 ¼” x 16 1/8”, has the expected horizontal center fold, is creased along the top edge, which has several tiny chips, and has several other creases and tiny edge tears. It seldom makes an appearance, and the appearance of this copy is vg-ex.

This colorful set, issued by a branch of the Imperial Tobacco Co., illustrates a wide variety of boxing moves and counter-moves. PSA MINT 9 (OC): #9. This set is loaded with boxing greats – Armstrong ex-m+, Baer nm-m, Braddock nm+, Carpentier nm-m, Dempsey nm, Johnson nm, Kilrain nm, Louis ex-m+, Schmeling ex-m+, Tunney ex-m+ and others. The overview of the set includes 17 nm-m cards, 14 that are nm+, 8 nm, 10 ex-m+, and 1 ex-m.

Lot 148.  19 1951 Topps Ringside Boxing Cards Including Robinson Graded by PSA, Corbett. There are 12 different cards, including #42 Ray Robinson graded PSA VG 3. Other cards are Ex: #27. Vg-ex: #4, 27, 33, 37, 52. Vg: #4, 52, 79. G-vg: #15, 26, 38, 52, 74. G: #38, 59 Corbett, 74 (2).

Lot 149.  Rare 1950s Sunnyhurst Farms 8” x 10” Rocky Marciano Premium. Marciano won all 49 of his professional fights and held the heavyweight title from 1952 until he retired in 1956. Forty-three of his wins were by knockout. The black & white premium is on stiff paper and is nm. The back lists all 49 of Marciano’s successful fights.

Lot 150.  1958 Joe Palooka Boxers Card of James J. Corbett. Issued by the Comics Novelty Candy Corp. of New York, these cards were found on the backs of boxes containing candy. This blank-backed card is technically g+ and looks much better.

Lot 151.  International Boxing HoF Envelope Signed by Ortiz, Maxim, 4 More. The autographs are on an International Boxing Hall of Fame Official Induction Day Cover, June 7, 1992. The autographs, in various colors, are by Carlos Ortiz (HoF 1991), Joey Maxim (HoF 1994, died 2001), Roland LaStarza, Lamar Clark (d. 2006) and two more. Clark, who fought in the 1950s and early 1960s, set a record by winning 44 consecutive fights by knockout. He was a knockout victim himself, falling to Muhammad Ali in the second round of a 1961 bout. The autographs are nm-m 8 and better. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
