Lot 229.  Charley Trippi Autographs on a 1946 Newspaper Cartoon, 1947 Photo. The 6” x 7” cartoon by Alan Mayer features Trippi as captain of the Georgia football team. The newspaper photo is 6” x 8” and b&w with a caption speculating that Trippi might join the All-America Football Conference. He didn’t. The photo and cartoon, glued to backing, present as ex-m. The bold signatures are gem mint 10s. A printed return address label for Trippi is included. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 230.  Bulldog Turner Signed Bank Check. Drawn on the Guaranty Bank & Trust Co. of Gatesville, Texas, the check is dated 11-27-1967 and signed “Clyde D. Turner.” The signature is a 10 with “Cly” partially over a purple date stamp that has bled through from the back. A PSA-DNA Letter of Authenticity signed by James Spence and Steve Grad and citing four checks accompanies the check. Turner (died 1998) had a HoF career with the Chicago Bears 1940-52. Authenticated also by Kevin Keating.

Lot 231.  Signed 1988 Swell Football Greats #138 Gene Upshaw. Upshaw became a member of the Football HoF in 1987. His recent death was a shock to football fans everywhere. The signature is a 10, and the card is ex-m+. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 234.  18 Heisman Trophy Winner Autographs. Nine Heisman winners: Gary Beban, Earl Campbell (2 signed items), John Cappelletti (4), Johnny Lattner, Johnny Lujack, Steve Owens (3), Billy Simms, Herschel Walker (2, one an unlined index card) and Charlie Ward (3, one personalized unlined index card). Sixteen signatures are on photos, most b&w. Two are 8” x 10” and the rest are 4” x 6” or smaller. Ex-m. Strong signatures, one 8, and the others 9s and 10s. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 235.  12 Football HoF Autographs – Luckman, Fears, Turner, Blanda, Trippi. The signatures are 10s on the pages of early 1950s programs: George Blanda (2 autographs), Tom Fears , Johnny Lujack, Charley Trippi (3), “Bulldog” Turner” (3, one on a Bears’ ticket promotion page) and Sid Luckman (2). Luckman and Turner passed away in 1998, and Fears in 2000. Five \ players are in the Pro HoF, and Lujack is a College HoF member. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 236.  3 Signed Sports Illustrated Issues - Nehemiah and Theismann. . April 26, 1982, Renaldo Nehemiah signed cover, ex+ (mailing label) with a bold 10 signature. Jan. 16 and Sept. 3, 1984, Joe Theismann signed covers, bold 10 signatures on ex-m and ex+ (mailing label) magazines. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
