Lot 443.  Porcelain Baseball Bank, McGwire Plate, Yankee Stadium “Unforgettaball.” The bank, probably from the 1940s-50s, shows wear on the red stitches. Ex to ex-m. The 8” Bradford Exchange plate, issued in 1998, is titled “Record Breaker 9-8-98,” is the first in the “Mark McGwire: Home Run Hero” series. It features three images of McGwire by Glen Green. Nm-m. Yankee Stadium is the subject of the colorful “Unforgettaball,” which is mint and still sealed in the original ball cube. Three great display items for a little as our MB $25.

Lot 444.  1948 “Play Ball” Large Wooden Punchboard with Baseball Theme. This punchboard remains in its original unpunched state. For 1 cent per punch a customer could play. Proceeds were used to benefit “The Damon Runyon Memorial Cancer Fund.” This punchboard is approximately 13” x 19 ½” x 1” deep. It features a wide variety of very colorful period baseball graphics and affords the player the option to play in separate areas designated for either the National or American Leagues. There is a bit of staining that somehow seems only to add to the wonderful period charm.

Lot 445.  Brooklyn Dodgers on 1940s-50s Magazine Covers and in Advertisements. This collection includes the classic May 8, 1950 issues of Life with a close-up of Jackie Robinson on the cover. A five-page article follows inside. Vg+ to ex. 2-6. Dodgers are on the covers of five issues of Sport: Oct. 1952, Robinson and Pee Wee Reese, g-vg. Oct. 1953, Roy Campanella, vg. Sept. 1954, Duke Snider, vg+. Sept. 1955, Snider, g-vg. March 1956, Walt Alston, ex. 7. Sept. 1952 Sports Stars, Robinson and Reese, scuff at bottom; otherwise, ex. 8. Ranging in size from 4” x 5” to 11” x 15”, this diverse collection is made up primarily of magazine and newspaper clippings and reproduction photographs. 1-8. 8 different 8” x 10” photos: Babe Ruth (3), Grove, Dickey, Ruffing, Hartnett, Nellie Fox. Overall, nm. 9-40. 1940s-50s vintage, 32 partial page clippings including Aparicio, Kell, Musial, Cronin, Medwick, Williams, Mathews, Gehrig, Hubbell, Ott, Fox, Banks, Joe DiMaggio, Stengel, Dean, Vaughan and Mantle. Lot 447.  Sporting News Poster – Official National & American League Schedules for 1950. This large light cardboard poster measures 11 ½” x 21.” Along with team schedules it features official National and American League records. Great for display. Vg-ex.

Lot 448.  Original Ted Williams Moxie Label. Williams’ name and image are on this label, which measures 3 ½” x 5” and grades vg+ to ex with a soft crease.

Lot 449.  1953 Louisville Slugger Newspaper Ad with Mathews, Furillo, Rosen and Vernon. Louisville Slugger Hillerich & Bradsby ad features Mickey Vernon and Carl Furillo as 1953 Batting Champs and Ed Mathews and Al Rosen as Home Run Champs. The b&w ad measures 16 ¼” x 23 ½” and is ex-m. It was placed in conjunction with the “Minor League Meeting” in Atlanta.

Lot 450.  1950s-60 Stan Musial Collection Including a Signed Record Album Jacket. Musial’s signature is on the sleeve of the 1963 “Stan-the-Man’s Hit Record,” a 33 1/3 rpm album full of batting tips. Phillips 66 issued the RCA Victor record. The cover features Musial giving batting instructions to his son Dickie. The album cover shows wear along the bottom, and it is taped along the left edge. The vinyl is vg. Musial’s signature is a mint 9, and the cover displays very nicely. 2. 1949 One for the Book from TSN, Musial cover, ex. 3. Street and Smith’s 1952 Baseball Yearbook, Musial cover. Inside are three pages on Joe DiMaggio’s retirement. Photos removed from two pages; otherwise vg-ex. 4. 1952 Baseball Yearbook by True, Musial cover, vg-ex. Advertisements: 5-13. Nine ads, about 11” x 14”. In four, Musial promotes Chesterfield cigarettes with such stars as Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio and Sid Luckman. Two are for Wheaties, and one each is for Rawlings’ Trap-eze glove and Hamm’s Beer. Another is for Quadriga Cloth, and it features Stan and his son as paper dolls with cut-out clothing. 3 ex-m, 2 ex, 1 vg-ex, 1 vg, 2 g-vg. 14-18. Five smaller newspaper or magazine ads for Wheaties, Beech-Nut, Sunkist and Chesterfield. Overall, ex-m. Very nice collection of Stan Musial images and an autograph.

Lot 451.  1960s All-Star Wrist Watch Featuring Mantle, Maris, Mays. This watch, made in Switzerland, has a silver and red baseball on the faceplate surrounded by a green circle. On the ball are the facsimile signatures of Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris and Willie Mays. The watch, which has a metal band, is in good working order. The crystal is free of scratches. Nm-m.

Lot 452.  1960-61 Los Angeles Dodgers Bobble Head with a Square Wooden Color Base. This example stands 6” high on a square orange base. The body and base are in fine shape, showing only slight soiling. The head has a significant repaired crack on the left side, a crack in the face and another along the right side. Displays decently, and it’s well worth our MB $15.

Lot 453.  1975 Hank Aaron Bobbing Head Doll. Issued by the Milwaukee Brewers, this 8” bobble is nm in the original box, which is vg and contains Aaron’s career information on the back.

Lot 454.  25 1968 St. Louis Cardinals National League Champs Pins. The 1968 NL Champs and the defending world champion Cardinals made it to the World Series in ’68 against the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers battled back winning the last 3 games of the series and were victorious. 1968 was the Year of the Pitcher, and two shining examples pitched for World Series teams. The St. Louis ace was Bob Gibson, who went 22-9 with a microscopic 1.12 ERA in the regular season. In Game 1, Bob Gibson set a single-game record with 17 strikeouts. The Tiger staff was led by Denny McLain, who at 31-6, became the first 30-game winner in Major League Baseball since Dizzy Dean won 30 games for St. Louis back in 1934. Seven pins are nm-m with the remainder averaging ex with some minor foxing. Oxidation on the back of the pins varies, generally minor. The pin backs are missing.

Lot 455.  “Cincinnati Reds Champions” Felt Pennants from 1961 and 1970. Each pennant is about 8 ½” x 23 ½” excluding tabs. Led by Frank Robinson, the 1961 Reds won the NL title before falling to the New York Yankees in the World Series. Ex+ pennant features Reds’ mascot on a white field. The top corner has been clipped, and the tabs are held in place by staples. In 1970, Sparky Anderson began his managing career with the Reds, and with the help of Johnny Bench, Pete Rose and others, began the era of “The Big Red Machine.” The Reds won 70 of their first 100 games and them made short work of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the NLCS before losing the World Series the Orioles. The pennant has three tack holes and otherwise is ex.

Lot 456.  4 Baseball Pennants – 1980 Phillies, 1969 Indians, Yankees. All are full-sized. The 1980 Philadelphia Phillies pennant is a “World Champions” scroll version that says “We’re #1.” Vg with a ½” tear and several pinholes. Rose, Schmidt and Carlton are among the 25 players listed on the scroll. The Cleveland Indians (ex) and New York Yankees (g-vg) pennants both have a 1969 date below the MLB logo. The Cleveland pennant shows Chief Wahoo over the Indians’ stadium. There also is a “New York World Champion” Yankees pennant, g-vg.

Lot 457.  Baseball Memorabilia with a World Series Focus - Press Passes, Game Ball, Etc. This collection came from the estate of a New York City reporter. 1-9. Working Media press passes for the 1981-85 and 1987 World Series. There are two passes for 1983, 1985 and 1987. They range from g-vg to ex-m with relevant information filled in. 10. Game-Used 1987 World Series Baseball. Official Giamatti ball shows game use and has “1987 World Series” printed on it in red sharpie on the sweet spot. 11. 1981 AL Playoffs working press pass for Oakland, vg. 12. 1982 ALCS working media pass with ticket stubs for three games stapled to it. 13-14. Working Media passes for the 1983 All-Star Game at Comiskey Park and the 1987 game in Oakland, vg-ex. 15-17. New York Mets season press passes for 1991, 1992, 1994, vg. 18-19. Press pin and press badge for the 1961 Little League World Series. 20-40. 21 pin-backs, coins or key chains. Highlights include the 3 ½” New York Daily News pin of Willie Mays with the Mets, “Say Hey!” with Bill Gallo artwork, ex. 2 Detroit Tigers pins, 3 ½” with a 1969 Tiger, ex, and a 1985 3” pin with the pope in a Detroit hat saying “Bless You Boys,” nm. Two 2 ½” pins are for Levittown, PA, as the 1960 American Little League World Champions, ex. Two pins are fro 1970s ASCCA Shows, one picture Christy Mathewson and the other Roy White, nm. George Brett is on a 3” Sports Photo pin, nm-m, and Bob Gibson on a 1971 Topps coin, vg. Other items feature players or teams and generally are nm. 41-42. Tickets for Games 1 and 2 of the 1977 AL Playoff Series at Yankee Stadium, vg+ to ex. 43. 1971 Cardinals matchcover schedule, staples removed, ex. 44-45. 1990 Sporting News Stadium Illustrations by Gene Mack, each 16” x 22”, rolled and nm. 46-50. Ephemera including an ad for 1941 Cardinals and Browns card sets, two 1970s Pittsburgh World Series stickers, a media pass to the 1992 expansion draft, and a 1978 All-Star Game ballot.
