Lot 623.  “Shot Heard ‘Round the World” Autographed ONL Giamatti Baseball. On Oct. 3, 1951, Ralph Branca came on in the ninth inning as a relief pitcher for Brooklyn and gave up a pennant-winning home run hit to Bobby Thomson of the Giants. Both men signed the sweet spot of this Giamatti ONL ball. The signatures are 10s, and the ball is nm-m. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 624.  1986 Jose Canseco “Rookie of the Year” Autographed Bat. This 34” Rawlings Adirondack bat has the Oakland Athletics logo on the barrel, along with “1986 Rookie of the Year,” ‘33 HRs” and “117 RBIs.” The number 7 is on the knob. Canseco signed in green sharpie, in keeping with the team’s colors. The bat is nm, and the signature, nm-m 8. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 625.  Bobby Valentine Bat Signed by 35 Members of the 1998 New York Mets. The signatures on this Valentine model 35” nm Louisville Slugger 125 bat are in bold blue sharpie. They grade gem mint 10 and include Brian Bohanon, Alberto Castillo, Dennis Cook, John Franco, Bernard Gilkey, Todd Hundley, Butch Huskey, Al Leiter, Dave Mlicki, Craig Paquette, Todd Pratt, Bill Pulsipher, Rick Reed, Armando Reynoso, Mel Rojas, Tim Spehr, Valentine, Tunk Wendell and Masato Yoshii.

Lot 626.  1990s Atlanta Braves Holiday Card Signed by Hank Aaron, Office Staff. Greeting card with embossed batter and “Braves” (in red) on the front. Five staff members, including Paul Snyder, recently retired director of operations, joined Aaron in signing. His bold autograph intersects with Snyder’s. The signatures are 9s and 10s. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 627.  Hank Aaron Autograph on a 715th Home Run Newspaper Photo. Aaron is shown after connecting with the pitch that he turned into his record-breaking home run. The photo appears under the title “Aaron Beats Ruth’s HR Mark (1974)” and over an article with the headline “715th Comes With First Swing of Game.” The photo and article are laminated to board with a black “frame” measuring 11” x 14.” Aaron signed the photo over the lamination. His signature is large and grades nm-m 8 to mint 9. This autograph, atop a dramatic photo, is ready for display. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 628.  Luke Appling Autographed Book Page Authenticated by PSA/DNA. Beneath his name printed in large bold text Appling has signed still larger and boldly in blue ballpoint pen. The signature is a 10. Appling died in 1991. Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA. Authenticated also by Kevin Keating.

Lot 629.  1950 Bowman #84 Richie Ashburn Framed with a Vintage Autograph Cut. The card is an ex-m beauty, nicely centered with strong colors. The autograph in pencil is a 9 to 10 and reads “Rich Ashburn Phillies Aug. 24, 1950.” Ashburn was a 23-year-old in his third season with Philadelphia. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 630.  Gene Baker Signed 1969 Handwritten Note on Pittsburgh Pirates Letterhead. Ernie Banks was the first African-American to play for the Chicago Cubs. Baker was the second. After playing second base alongside Banks, Baker helped the Pirates to win the World Series in 1960. He retired in 1961. Subsequently, he managed in the Pirates’ minor league system and became their chief Midwest scout. He was the first African-American to manage a minor league team affiliated with a major league club, and he was the first to manager in the majors. In 1963, he was the Pirates’ skipper for two innings after Danny Murtaugh was ejected from the game. Baker passed away in 1999. His handwritten note warmly responds to an autograph request. His signature is a mint 9. Great item for a Cubs, Pirates or Negro Leagues collector. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 631.  Jose Canseco Signature on Doug West Original Art Plus a Print Signed by Both. This superb rendering by West features images of Canseco running and batting alongside his portrait. The Canseco signature in blue sharpie is a 10. This 16” x 20” artwork was used to produce 500 limited edition prints. One of the prints, #231, is included as a bonus. Both Canseco and West have signed it, and their signatures are 10s. Autographs authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 632.  8” x 10” B&W Portrait Beautifully Signed by Stanley Coveleski. The autograph is a bold gem mint 10. One of the last of the legal spitball pitchers, Coveleski won at least 20 games in each season from 1928-21 and in 1925. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1969. He passed away in 1984. Lot 633.  Wes Covington Signed 3 ½” x 5” Color Card. 1957 was Covington’s year. He slammed 21 homers in just 96 games for the Milwaukee and made two spectacular catches that helped the Braves to win the 1957 World Series. The signature in blue sharpie on the ex-m card is a 10. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 634.  Bill Dickey Autograph on an 8” x 10” Framed Photo. Color photograph of Dickey at bat in a late 1930s to mid-1940s Yankees uniform. Blue sharpie 10 signature on an nm-m photo. The Hall of Fame catcher passed away in 1993. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 637.  Jeff Francis Signature on the Cover of the Oct. 15, 2007 Sports Illustrated. Full nm copy with no mailing label! Pitching for the Colorado Rockies, Francis became the first Canadian pitcher to start a World Series game as this magazine was released. Signature is an outstanding gem mint 10. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
