Lot 61.  2 1908 PC798-79 Taft vs. Bryan Presidential Race PCs with a Baseball Theme. Interesting crossover between politics and sports. Both postcards feature colorized head shot photos of William Howard Taft and his Democratic opponent, William Jennings Bryan. The photos are superimposed above caricature body images that are in color and outfitted in baseball uniforms. Both postcards read “Presidential Campaign 1908” and are from a set of four with a baseball theme. The first, titled “Democracy At Bat,” is unused. It features Taft behind the plate in catcher’s garb with a donkey at bat and Bryan to the side with Uncle Sam. Ex. The second, titled “G.O.P. At Bat,” was postally cancelled on Oct. 19, 1908. It features Bryan behind the plate in catcher’s garb with an elephant at bat and Taft to the side of the elephant. Uncle Sam appears to the right of Bryan. Vg-ex.

Lot 62.  13 Different Forbes Field Postcards Including 8 Pre-Linen. Of the five others, four are linen examples, and one is a chrome. For cards that have been postally used, the cancellation date is given. This is a superb collection from a veteran collector with several cards that are seldom offered. Lot 63.  9 Polo Grounds Pre-Linen Stadium Postcards + a 1905 Giants B&W Scorecard PC. The scorecard postcard by J. T. Dye is the black and white version. It pictures Ames, Bowerman, Mertes, Mathewson, McGinnity and Taylor. Unused and vg+ to ex. Among the pre-linen stadium postcards are some scarce issues. Three different cards have photos of McGraw in the upper right corner.
