Lot 770.  Large Film Poster Featuring the Marx Brothers, W.C. Fields and Chaplin. This 28” x 41 ½” poster promotes “A Janus Films Presentation” of three motion pictures “Together for the first time on one program.” The movies are the Marx Brothers in “Room Service”, W.C. Fields in “The Fatal Glass of Beer” and Charlie Chaplin in “The Vagabond.” Large sketches of these featured performers grace the poster. Excellent display and conversation piece.

Lot 771.  Bound Volumes of The New York Times for Parts of 1921, 1925 and 1932. Connoisseurs of sports and international and domestic events alike will find an abundance of informative reading in these three professionally bound volumes, once housed in the Handley Library of Winchester, VA. The volumes cover Sept. 18-Nov. 17, 1921, and June 1-June 15, 1925 and 1932. Baseball fans will find coverage of the 1925 and 1932 pennant races, as well as the 1921 World Series between the Giants and the Yankees. For those less interested in sports, Times’ articles provide insights into the fallout from World War I and its contribution to World War II. The Sunday Rotogravures are included, and one pictures both Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart. Each volume is about 19” x 23”, ex, and heavy. These volumes are much more interesting than those novels that the masters of hype claim you can’t put down. Once you open one of the volumes, you will want to keep turning to the next page, and the next.

Lot 772.  2 Engrav-ings from Abbott’s Civil War Published in 1863 + a Bonus. This publication claimed to provide “a full and impartial account of the war.” Each engraving is each 6 ¼” x 9 ½”. One features Maj. Gen. George B. McClellan, and the other, Lieut. Gen. U.S. Grant. A facsimile signature of each appears beneath his picture. As a bonus, this group also includes 5 ½” x 9” litho of Grant from another source. All three are vg.

Lot 773.  1927-28 Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus Program. This 96-page “Magazine and Daily Review” is loaded with photos and articles that will delight circus aficionados. Many of the circus performers are pictured, and so are animal acts. The ads for various products also are interesting. A price of 15 cents and “Combined Shows” appears on the front cover along with delightful period graphics. The magazine cover is g-vg with ex to ex-m inside pages.

Lot 774.  1928 “Donkey Party Game Produced by Saalfield Publishing of Akron. 20” x 23” early version of “Pin the Tail on the Donkey” comes with its original envelope.

Lot 775.  Two Newspaper Photo Supple-ments on the Pittsburgh Flood of 1936. In March of 1936, Pittsburgh experienced a crippling flood. Wet snow followed by torrential rains turned downtown Pittsburgh and nearby areas into a sea for several days. A 24-page supplement to the Pittsburgh Sun-Telegraph, dated March 29, captures scenes of flooding not only in Pittsburgh, but in Johnstown, Pa., and Wheeling as well. The Pittsburg Press followed with a 20-page supplement filled with sepia photos of Pittsburgh flooding on April 18. Both supplements have been folded once horizontally and otherwise are vg-ex to ex. Also, four pages from the March 20 Sun-Telegraph.

Lot 776.  6 Different 1940-50s State Theatre Movie Programs. The State Theatre in Deposit, N. Y. provided their movie goers with some advanced notice of upcoming movies of the times. All are 4-page handouts. Two are folded to 4 ¾” x 7”. One is folded to 5 1/8” x 8”. Three are folded to 6” x 8 ¼”. Bette Davis, Gene Autry, Nelson Eddy, John Wayne, James Stewart, Mickey Rooney, Frank Sinatra and many more of the days actresses and actors are highlighted in their current movies. All programs are nm.

Lot 777.  Eclectic Collection, Mostly in French, Some Related to Zutphen in the Netherlands. Zutphen was the site of a battle in 1586 as part of the Eighty Years War, which saw the Netherlands gain independence from Spain. In World War II, the 3rd Canadian Division captured the city in April 1945. Several items offered have a connection to Zutphen. One is 24” x 19 ½” map, which is printed on quality rag paper, titled “Ducatus Geldria et Zutphania Comitatus.” Rolled and vg. Three other images on two large sheets of paper deal with Zutphen in WWII. They reproduce in b&w artwork by Rex Allyn created in 1999-2000. One contains an excellent 14” x 23” portrait of Lt. Gerard Jean of Le Regiment de la Chaudiere. Rolled and ex. Also: a 20” x 16” photo of 1962-63 graduates of the University of Montreal, vg, and a 1966 diploma from the university, all in French. And a 28” x 24” poster from the Salvador Dali Museum, vg. Unusual. The Zutphen items are especially interesting.

Lot 778.  Original 1942 “War Bonds” Poster. This large 28” x 43” poster is full color and has the potential to be an exceptional display item. It features a determined soldier in the foreground and factory workers in the background. Alongside the soldier the large bold text reads “Let’s All Fight.” Beneath him across the length of the poster “Buy War Bonds” appears in bold red print. The poster is also identified as “U.S. Government Printing Office: 1942 – 0-4692100 WSS 508-B.” It has a few small inoffensive tears in the borders and a small ½” tear in the “G” of the word “Fight.” It folds to a size of 11” x 14”. Vg displays as ex-m.

Lot 779.  Lone Ranger and Tonto Sleeping Bag . This colorful 30” x 62” sleeping bag pictures the Lone Ranger and Tonto on horseback riding aside one another. “Good luck always, The Lone Ranger & Tonto” appears in script beneath. Copyright 1978 by The Lone Ranger Television Co., Inc.

Lot 780.  1950s Tom Corbett Space Cadet Red Metal Lunchbox with Matching Thermos. Tom Corbett was the hero of books, comic books, TV and radio in the 1950s. His adventures spanned the galaxy and school lunchrooms near and far. The ex thermos is illustrated with graphics that show Tom and company by their ship on a distant planet. The lid of the colorful g-vg lunchbox features Tom on his ship communicating in outer space. The bottom has an illustration of a spaceship with text that reads, “This Kit belongs to _______________, Space Cadet.” With a winning bid, your name could appear on that line.

Lot 782.  Folio of 30 Statue of Liberty 100th Anniversary Collector Pages. Each 10” x 13” page contains a photograph and foreign stamps depicting the Statue of Liberty. The Postal Commemorative Society issued the custom binder containing these colorful pages. Peter B. Kaplan provided the photographs. Kaplan was awarded the title of “Preferred Photographer” of the Statue of Liberty by the Ellis Island Foundation. Kaplan autographed the page that contains his biographical information. The signature is a 10. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
