Lot 755. Set of 4 Obscure 1950s Davy Crockett Transfers. They are similar to the 1956 “Hot Iron Patches” issued about 1956 by Swell (Philadelphia) Bubble Gum. They are about 3 ½” x 6 ¾” with some variation in size. Technically, they grade vg to vg-ex because the thin paper shows light creases or wrinkles that appear to be a result of the manufacturing process. The transfers show little evidence of handling, and the corners are ex-m to nm. One transfer is titled “Indian Fighter,” and another, “Great Hunter,” shows Crockett fighting a bear. The third contains images from Crockett’s life and death – a coonskin cap, guns, a log cabin and the Alamo. The fourth has a portrait drawing of Crockett and related images.
