Skiing Autograph
1 Lot
Lot 287. 1943 Typed Letter Signed by Hannes Schneider, the Father of Modern Skiing. Born in Austria, Schneider developed a systematic method of teaching skiing that soon came to dominate the sport. Using his methods, new skiers could advance quickly, and more experienced skiers could increase their speed while remaining in control. His techniques are still used today. During World War II, the Nazis threw him in jail. Through the efforts of friends in the U.S., he was released and able to emigrate to New Hampshire, where he lived until his death in 1955. In the letter on his Easter Slope Ski School stationery, Schneider answers a request for an autograph. His signature is a gem mint 10. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
Minimum Bid $20.
