This wonderful display piece, which promotes Ballantine beer, features artwork by Bill Gallo, famed New York Daily News cartoonist. Gallo prominently depicts Mel Allen, “The Voice of the Yankees,” who holds a frothy mug of Ballantine. Surrounding him are players making various baseball moves - Joe DiMaggio, Tom Henrich, Vic Raschi and Allie Reynolds. Very attractive display measuring 10 ½” x 13 ¼”. Winning Bid $152.

Lot 37.  3 Different 1800s Harper’s Color Baseball Woodcuts. 1. 1866 Harper’s Baseball Woodcut Featuring “Athletic” and “Atlantic” Players. Philadelphia was a central part of baseballs’ earliest history. Amateur teams probably started playing there as early as 1830. In 1860, James N. Kerns formed a club, simply named “Athletic Base Ball Club.” “Athletic” (Base Ball Club was dropped) soon dominated amateur play in the area. The Nov. 3, 1866 Harper’s Weekly chronicles a championship match between the “Athletic of Philadelphia” and “Atlantic of Brooklyn” and contains the publication’s fourth baseball woodcut print. The score was “Athletic” 32, “Atlantic” 12. The famous Harper’s illustration shows the Athletic players in uniforms with the familiar Old English “A” on the front. The Atlantic players have “ABBC” on their uniforms. The ex woodcut measures 10 ½” x 14”. There is slight amount of inoffensive staining in the upper border and lower right corner that does not affect the image. 2. Oct. 26, 1867, “The champion nine of the Union Base-Ball Club of Morrisania, New York,” 7” x 11” with a very slight chip in upper left, ex. 3. July 25, 1874, “The Philadelphia Athletics,” 10” x 14” with slight inoffensive tears and a small amount of tape in the top right corner. Vg-ex. A very young Cap Anson is pictured with bat in hand.
Winning Bid $148.

Lot 38.  Aug. 31, 1889 Harper’s with a 2-Page Litho – “A Collegiate Game of Base-Ball.” This detailed woodcut from W. P. Snyder artwork may be Harper’s most artistically appealing baseball litho. Some chips and small tears along the edges. The artwork and the wide border around it appear nm and could be beautifully matted and framed. A spectacular example of 19th century baseball. Ex complete issue.
Winning Bid $50.

Lot 98.  1930 Bisque Pie-Eyed Mickey Mouse Batting. Interesting crossover between Disneyana and sports collecting. Bisque is approximately 3 ¼” high. About 90% of the paint is present. Engraved, “Walt E. Disney” and “Made in Japan.” This is one of the most desirable of the early Mickey Mouse figures. A tag still affixed to the bottom of Mickey’s right foot reads “Mickey Mouse Copyright 1930 By Walter Disney.”
Winning Bid $321.

Lot 99.  1930 Bisque Pie-Eyed Mickey Mouse Catching. The bisque is approximately 3 ¼” tall. Almost 100% of the paint is present. Engraved, “Walt E. Disney.” It is among the most desirable of the early Mickey Mouse figures. A tag is still affixed to the bottom of Mickey’s left foot. “Mickey Mouse” is strong, while “Copyright 1930 By Walter Disney” is less so. Fabulous figure.
Winning Bid $354.

Lot 100.  1930 Bisque Pie-Eyed Mickey Mouse with Glove on Left Hip and Ball on Right. This bisque is approximately 3 ¼” tall. About 85% of the paint is present. Engraved “Walt E. Disney” and “Made in Japan.”
Winning Bid $264.

Lot 101.  1951 Award Presented to Legendary Manager-Owner Connie Mack. This 11” x 14” award, which features gold lettering, came from Mack’s personal estate. It was presented to the Athletics’ icon on May 1, 1951 by the Lions Club of Kingsville, Ontario, Canada. It reads: “Presented to Connie Mack in recognition of his contribution to the Development of Canadian Baseball at Kingsville, Ontario.” There is a scuff above the text; otherwise, ex.
Winning Bid $50.

Lot 102.  Harvard Athletic Co. 1940s Petrolia Baseball Jersey and Pants. The Harvard Athletic tag is only in the jersey, which is size 36. Both the jersey and the pants are white with red piping. The jersey has a red zero on the back. The jersey shows some soiling and staining, and the pants have a couple of holes. Petrolia is a town near Pittsburgh. Nice vintage example.
Minimum Bid $75.

Lot 103.  Early 1950s Salesman’s Promo for a Calendar Featuring Jackie Robinson. The 7 ½” x 9 ½” promo features an outstanding color photo of Robinson and his facsimile autograph. Ebbets Field is in the background. The promo notes that the calendar company had to pay a royalty for using Robinson’s image. Nm-m, uncommon and attractive.
Winning Bid $75.

Lot 201.  1904 “Husky Hans” Honus Wagner Sheet Music. The image area of this sheet music, about 10 ¾” x 13 ¾”, displays beautifully with only minor foxing in the upper left. Outside the image area, there is a 1” tear along the spine at the top, a very tiny edge tear and a chip in the lower left. If matted, the image area would be excellent for display. The image and facsimile signature of Wagner are outstanding.
Minimum Bid $200.

Lot 202.  Original Seat from Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers Stadium. Three Rivers housed both the Pirates and Steelers, and both teams enjoyed substantial success there. The Pirates won two World Series, and the Steelers captured four Super Bowls. The stadium opened July 16, 1970 and yielded to the wrecking ball on Feb. 11, 2001. The seat, which is orange with red supports, comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from the company that conducted the original liquidation of Three Rivers assets. It shows expected use but no abuse, and it will make a great addition to a game or TV room.
Winning Bid $113.

Lot 223.  1960 New York at Pittsburgh World Series Program. The Bombers from the Bronx outscored Pittsburgh, 55-27, and Bobby Richardson won MVP honors. But tenacity, teamwork, and clutch hitting and pitching brought the World Championship to Pittsburgh. Few clutch hits are more memorable than Bill Mazeroski’s Series-winning home run in the bottom of the ninth inning in Game 7. The unscored program is nicely illustrated. A crease in the lower right corner earns the colorful cover a vg-ex grade; the pages are ex-m.
Winning Bid $75.
