Baseball Memorabilia   32 Lots       »

Lot 21.  Original 1961 Mickey Mantle-Roger Maris AM Tube Radio by Stellar. Outstanding and scarce radio that still nicely transmits baseball games and other AM radio programming. If only it could re-capture broadcasts from Maris’ 61-home-run season! This fully functional radio features a ball player clad in Yankee pinstripes in a batting position on the faceplate, along with facsimile signatures of Mantle and Maris. The wood cabinet, which measures about 7” wide x 4” deep x 5 ¼” high, is ex. The radio is original except for the cord and the tuning knob, which have been replaced.
Winning Bid $587.

Lot 22.  Ron Stark 20” x 24” Color Print of Babe Ruth on Canvas. Stark has been described as the next Norman Rockwell. He is one of the premiere sports artists of our time. His rendering of Babe Ruth is simply incredible. If there is a better one out there, we have not seen it. Clad in Yankee pinstripes and cap, the Babe stands holding his bat against a dark brown background. The appearance is that of an original oil painting and not a print. His image is so lifelike that it seems to jump out of the canvas. The detail is exceptional and meticulous. The canvas print is housed in a 23 ½” x 27 ½” frame. Ron Stark has hand signed the print near the lower right corner.
Winning Bid $763.

Lot 23.  Unique, Large Babe Ruth Original Painting. “Unique” should be reserved for one-of-a-kind items, and this is it. You won’t find 45 more examples on EBay. In fact, you won’t find one more. The lampblack artwork came from a Syracuse company that used window shade material to create displays for special events. This black & white stylized painting, which is 3 feet eight inches by 4 feet, shows Ruth in pinstripes. The same image is painted on both sides. A couple of edge tears fail to detract from this dramatic art – or from its uniqueness. Be the only Ruth collector to own this type of item.
Winning Bid $100.

Lot 24.  Rare 1930s Lou Gehrig-Bill Dickey New York Yankees Glass Bank. Gehrig and Dickey’s names appear in red on the outside of the bank that is the size and shape of a regulation baseball. Virtually all of the red paint is present except for part of an “e” in “Yankees.” There is wear on the blue paint along the seems. Ex-m.
Minimum Bid $200.

Lot 25.  Babe 1948 Ruth Wrist Watch by Exact Time. This watch is real beauty! The image of Ruth, superimposed on a baseball diamond with his facsimile signature, is strong. The Swiss-made watch works intermittently. The crystal is free of scratches, and the brown leather band shows some wear. Ex-m.
Winning Bid $245.

Lot 26.  1960s All-Star Wrist Watch Featuring Mantle, Maris, Mays. This watch, made in Switzer-land, has a silver and red baseball on the face surrounded by a green circle. Lot 33.  1958, 1960 New York Yankee Scorecards with Mantle, Maris, Williams, Berra. In 1958, the Yankees easily won their fourth consecutive pennant with a 92-62 record. Runner-up Chicago finished 10 games back. 1. April 12, 1958 exhibition game - Phillies 3, Yankees 2. Mickey Mantle made $65,000 in 1958. 2. Regular-season program used for a game between the Mantle and Mays All-Stars. Mays’ team 6, Mantle’s team 2. For the 1960 season, the Yankees were reloaded, especially after the acquisition of Roger Maris, who they got from their unofficial farm club, the Kansas City Athletics, in exchange for Don Larsen. Maris would belt 39 home runs and drive in 112 en route to AL MVP honors. 3. April 22, 1960, Yankees 5, Orioles 0. 4. Sept. 6, 1960, Red Sox 7, Yankees 1. Ted Williams was in the lineup. Nice photo of Maris, Berra, Mantle and Skowron. All scorecards are scored with information written in blue ballpoint on the cover and vg-ex.
Winning Bid $50.

The ring is 2” top to bottom with a New York Yankees Logo on a blue background in the center. It is described on the Certificate of Authenticity as a “Team Ring Paperweight.” The ring is especially impressive for display. Nm-m.

Surrounding him are players making various baseball moves - Joe DiMaggio, Tom Henrich, Vic Raschi and Allie Reynolds. Very attractive display measuring 10 ½” x 13 ¼”. Unused double stick tape and easel on back. Ex-m. As Allen would say, “How ‘bout that!”
Winning Bid $152.

Lot 37.  3 Different 1800s Harper’s Color Baseball Woodcuts. 1. 1866 Harper’s Baseball Woodcut Featuring “Athletic” and “Atlantic” Players. Philadelphia was a central part of baseballs’ earliest history. Amateur teams probably started playing there as early as 1830. In 1860, James N. Kerns formed a club, simply named “Athletic Base Ball Club.” “Athletic” (Base Ball Club was dropped) soon dominated amateur play in the area. The Nov. 3, 1866 Harper’s Weekly chronicles a championship match between the “Athletic of Philadelphia” and “Atlantic of Brooklyn” and contains the publication’s fourth baseball woodcut print. The score was “Athletic” 32, “Atlantic” 12. The famous Harper’s illustration shows the Athletic players in uniforms with the familiar Old English “A” on the front. The Atlantic players have “ABBC” on their uniforms. The ex woodcut measures 10 ½” x 14”. There is slight amount of inoffensive staining in the upper border and lower right corner that does not affect the image. 2. Oct. 26, 1867, “The champion nine of the Union Base-Ball Club of Morrisania, New York,” 7” x 11” with a very slight chip in upper left, ex. 3. July 25, 1874, “The Philadelphia Athletics,” 10” x 14” with slight inoffensive tears and a small amount of tape in the top right corner. Vg-ex. A very young Cap Anson is pictured with bat in hand.
Winning Bid $148.

Lot 38.  Aug. 31, 1889 Harper’s with a 2-Page Litho – “A Collegiate Game of Base-Ball.” This detailed woodcut from W. P. Snyder artwork may be Harper’s most artistically appealing baseball litho. Some chips and small tears along the edges. The artwork and the wide border around it appear nm and could be beautifully matted and framed. A spectacular example of 19th century baseball. Ex complete issue.
Winning Bid $50.

Disney.” It is among the most desirable of the early Mickey Mouse figures.
