Lot 193.  60 Early 1900s Postcards Featuring Scenes of Massachusetts. Lighthouses, trolleys, important buildings and other structures are the subjects of these postcards. Early cars and even some horses also can be seen. All but a couple of the postcards are pre-linen. Fifteen were postmarked before 1920, seven in the 1920s and one in 1937. Eleven were designed to have the message written on the front. Communities represented are Attleboro, 1 card. Boston, 7 including four of railway stations plus Scollay Square, Commonwealth Ave. Boston Harbor, 9 including Graves, Boston, Bug, Minot’s and Dear Island Lights. Cambridge, Harvard Square. Charlestown Bridge. Chelsea. Fairhaven. Fall River, 6 including various views of Slade’s Ferry Bridge. Gloucester, 5 with four showing lighthouses. Lowell, Hood’s Sarsaparilla Lab. Nahant. Nantasket, 4. New Bedford, 7 including street and trolley scenes. Newburyport, Chain Bridge. North Leominster, Monoosnock Country Club. Plymouth Harbor, Duxbury Pier Light. Salem, 2 showing trolleys. Salisbury Beach. Somerville, Winter Hill Station. Springfield, 4, all with trolleys. Worcester, 3, Front Street, Lincoln Square with a horse-drawn wagon. The cards are predominantly vg, vg-ex and ex.

Lot 194.  1930s R184 Type 2 Indian Chiefs Complete Set of 24. This is the first set of these strip cards that we have had the pleasure to offer. Ex-m to nm.

Lot 195.  1937 Doughnut Corporation of America Booklet and 41 cards. The booklet and cards are exceedingly rare and desirable. This booklet grades p as a result of cards having been removed. The inside pages have various tears, and they are separated from the binding. The cover iscolorful and appealing. The 41 cards, which were removed from the album, have glue and paper residue on their blank backs, primarily in the corners. The fronts are colorful, displaying as nm overall. Highlights include Edison, Alexander G. Bell, Stonewall Jackson, Alexander Hamilton and Andrew Carnegie.

Lot 196.  1950s Bathing Beauties Set of 32 Exhibits + 15 More Pin-Up Exhibits. Unidentified models wear an array of two-piece bathing suits in the set, which is printed in sepia on thin paper stock and has “Made in U.S.A.” in the lower right corner. The thin-paper set apparently was produced for promotional purposes. Nm. The other cards, printed on regular exhibit stock, are from at least four different sets. Six cards apparently from the 1940s are more risqué than the others. Printed in shades of violet and purple, they feature unidentified models in sexy poses that reveal no more than a typical day at the beach today. Ex. Seven 1950s cards are sepia and have the model’s name in fancy type at the bottom, including Sheree North, Gloria Gordon and Barbara Bates (“All About Eve”). Ex. A duotone card from the 1940s shows Sylvia Lewis (g-vg with a pin hole), and a b&w card has an unidentified model (ex). 47 cards.

Lot 197.  75 1950s-60s Exhibit Cards Featuring Women Actors and Singers. These cards appear to be from four different sets. 1. Thirty-three are from a “salutation” actress set with b&w photos and facsimile autographs. Each says “Printed in U.S.A.” in the lower right: Allyson, Bardot, Francis Bergen, Blyth, Charisse (2), Crawford, Darnell, Dru, Anne Francis, Gardner, Gaynor, Kathryn Grant, Hayward, Audrey Hepburn, Kerr, Leigh, Lollabrigida, Loren, MacLaine, Mansfield, Novak, Margaret O’Brien, Maureen O’Hara, Palmer, Paget, Provine, Reynolds, Eva Marie Saint, Taylor, Turner, Esther Williams, Wood and Woodward. 2. Eighteen are sepia, have facsimile autographs and “Printed in U.S.A.” in the lower right: Carroll Baker, Diane Baker, Blockman, Dee, Fonda, Anne Francis, Funicello, Heatherton, Loring, Ann Margaret, Mobley, Pleschette, Prentiss, Prowse, Thiess (2), Weld and Walley. Cards apparently representing two sets were produced in conjunction with Billboard magazine. Both have facsimile autographs on the front. 3. Ten are from a set that complete paragraphs on the back and say “Bio Courtesy of Billboard”: JoAnn Campbell, Petula Clark, Marianne Faithful (no facsimile), Gale Garnett, Brenda Lee, Phyllis McGuire, Dusty Springfield, the Supremes, Carla Thomas and Nancy Wilson. 4. Thirteen have abbreviated biographical information on the back and say “Biography Courtesy of Billboard Music Week”: The Angels, Annette, Teresa Brewer, Connie Francis, Edye Gorme, Gogi Grant, Wanda Jackson, Joni James, Patti Page, Dorothy Provine, Linda Scott, Keely Smith, Kay Starr and Sue Thompson. These cards range from ex to nm-m and average ex-m to nm.

Lot 198.  1954 Bowman U.S. Naval Victories Complete Set of 48. This set is absolutely awesome -for its artwork and for its condition which has a pack fresh feel. The colors are blazing and the centering is exceptional. It is the best set of its kind that we have ever seen. Nm to nm-m. Correction: The minimum bid on this lot should have been $200. We inadvertently and incorrectly entered $125 as the minimum as we entered the lot on line. We are allowing the bidding to continue from the $125 minimum bid. However, the lot must reach at least $200 to sell.

All centerfolds are intact with covers grading primarily ex+ to nm. Inside pagers are generally nm-m. Several magazines are still sealed in the original newsstand plastic!
