Lot 187.  1970-71 Topps Basketball Set of 175 with PSA NM-MT 8 Maravich Rookie. Ex-m+ set with an outstanding example of #123, the Pete Maravich rookie. It’s the key to the set, and we’ll start the bidding at one-half of the SMR value for a PSA NM-MT 8 Marivich rookie card.

Lot 188.  Nm to Nm-M 1971-72 Topps Basketball Set of 233 with a Mint 9 Issel. This is by far the finest 1971-72 set we have seen. It averages nm to nm-m. PSA graded seven of the cards, and the leader of this team is #299 Dan Issel, graded MINT 9. The other PSA-graded cards are #35 Havlicek NM 7, 47 Cowens NM-MT 8, 50 West NM-MT 8, 55 Maravich NM 7, 63 Lanier NM-MT 8 and 170 Barry NM 7. We’ll start things out with the SMR value of the PSA-graded Issel card.

Key cards in this supberb nm to nm+ set include: Nm-m: #80 Bob McAdoo, 176 Jerry West and 190 Danny Issel. Nm+: #10 Pete Maravich, 39 Bill Walton rookie, 100 John Havlicek, 132 Phil Jackson, 196 George Gervin rookie and 235 Billy Cunningham. Nm: #25 Earl Monroe, 30 Elvin Hayes, 31 Pat Riley, 113 Bill Bradley, 150 Walt Frazier and 250 Wilt Chamberlain. Ex-m+: #1 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, 50 Rick Barry and 55 Oscar Robertson.

Lot 190.  1975-76 Topps Basketball Complete Set of 330. A superior set that grades ex-m overall. All of these cards grade ex-m: #75 Pete Maravich, 77 Bill Walton, 90 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, 254 Moses Malone rookie, 300 Julius Erving.

Lot 191.  A View From Above Written and Autographed by Wilt Chamberlain. One of the best basketball players of all time, Chamberlain was a two-time All-American center at the University of Kansas. During 14 seasons in the NBA, “Wilt the Stilt" (over 7’ 1”) led the league in scoring seven consecutive seasons (1959-65), was the leader in field goal percentage nine times, the top rebounder 11 times, and the MVP 4 years (1960, 1966-68). He played with the Philadelphia Warriors and 76ers and the Los Angeles Lakers. Famed for his long-standing rivalry with Boston's Bill Russell, he set many records, including 100 points scored in a game (1962, against the New York Knicks) and 23,924 career rebounds. His controversial autobiography, View from Above (1991), focuses on the lifestyle of a professional athlete. This first edition hardcover book is signed “Peace Wilt Chamberlain” in large blue sharpie. The signature is a gem mint 10. The book is nm with a small red mark on the bottom outside edges of the pages and a ¾” red mark on the top outside pages near the spine. The dust jacket has some scratches, no tears or creases and an ex-m appearance. Chamberlain passed away in 1999.
