Lot 30. 1909-1910 W555 Apparently Uncataloged Card of “Young, Cleveland Amer.” This appears to be a wrong-photo card that is listed as “Cy Young, Cleveland Amer.” in the Beckett checklist and as “Cy Young (standing, full name on front)” in the SCD checklist. Actually, the card pictures Irving Young, known as “Young Cy,” and not Denton Young, the Hall of Fame pitcher. Denton pitched for Cleveland from 1890-98, and then again from 1909-11, when these cards were produced. Irving played for the Braves, Pirates and White Sox, 1905-11, but never Cleveland. We’ll leave it to you to decide whether to think of it as a real Cy Young card with the wrong photo or as a “Little Cy” Young card with the wrong team. In either case, it’s ex-m and a very nice W555 example.

Lot 31. 1909-11 T206 Fred Clarke Pittsburg Portrait. Deep rich colors, nicely centered and free of creases. Corner wear and dings dictate the grade of vg-ex. Displays nicely.

Lot 35. 1910-11 T3 Turkey Red #7 Howie Camnitz. The highlight of Caminitz’ career came in 1909, when he posted a 25-6 record during the regular season. Subsequently, he had two more 20-game seasons with the Pirates. Vg+ with bright, vibrant colors.

Lot 36. 1910-11 T3 Turkey Red #30 “Wabash George” Mullin. A right-hander, Mullin pitched successfully for Detroit for 11 seasons, winning 20 games or more five times. The highlight of his career came in 1909, when he posted a 29-8 record with a 2.22 ERA. The card is a very clean vg+ with ex corners, a vertical crease that extends in from the bottom edge, another small, barely noticeable crease and couple of light, tiny stains. The back is clean.

Lot 37. Scarce 1910-11 T3 Turkey Red #37 Slim Sallee. One veteran T3 collector tells us this is, by far, the most difficult card in the set to find. Vg-ex with some professional restoration in the gray areas. The image of Sallee is bright and free of creases. The back of the card is clean. Sallee pitched for St. Louis 1908-16.

Lot 38. 1910-11 T3 Turkey Red #41 Hooks Wiltse. Vg-ex with some professional restoration in the gray areas. Wiltse twice won 20 games for New York.

Lot 40. 1912 T202 Hassan “Close at Third” with Wood, Speaker. This T202 card with Joe Wood and Tris Speaker is one of the most popular in the set. It is one of few period cards with “Smokey” Joe. It shows Wood with his Red Sox roommate. F. We’ll start the bidding at about 6 percent of the nm price.
