Lot 399.  Circa 1931 “We Mourn Our Loss” Knute Rockne Pin. On March 31, 1931, Rockne died in in a plane crash at the age of 43. This pin features a sepia photo of him surrounded by a brown rim with white printing that reads: “We Mourn Our Loss, Knute Rockne.” A portion of the pin is bent, and the pinback is missing. The photo of Rockne is very strong, as is the printing that surrounds it. The union stamp is visible on the reverse. Ex appearance.

Lot 400.  Notre Dame Fighting Irish Wall Clock. This clock is about 13” x 13”. It features the Notre Dame Mascot at its center, gold face plate, and black numerals and hands.

Lot 401.  Football Wire Photo of Michigan Legends, Willie Heston with Benny Oosterbaan. “Willie the Wonder” was the first Michigan player to make Walter Camp’s All-America team. Oosterbaan, playing two decades later, was college football’s first outstanding receiver, the 1920s equivalent of the 1930s’ Don Hutson. Heston and Oosterbaan are shown together in a vg-ex 7 ¼” x 9 ¾” original wire photo dated Oct. 3, 1952. Accompanying this photo are two photos of Heston’s Son, Willie Jr., who also played football for the Wolverines. Each photo is 6 ½” x 8 ½” and vg-ex with a caption attached. One is from 1929, and the other from 1930.

Lot 402.  Two Otto Graham Wire Photos, One from the 1955 NFL Championship. Graham was a winner. Period. He led the Cleveland Browns to 10 consecutive title games and came away with four All-America Football Conference and three NFL championships. In the 8” x 10” INP Soundphoto offered here, Graham scores the first of two touchdowns in a 31-14 romp over the Los Angeles Rams in the 1955 championship game played Dec. 26 at the L.A. Coliseum. Ex. In a Nov 6, 1941, wire photo from the files of the Los Angeles Examiner, the Northwestern sophomore tailback is posed to forward a pass. Vg-ex 6 ½” x 8 ½” photo with the caption attached. Ex appearance.

Lot 403.  8” x 10” B&W Photo of 1941 Heisman Trophy Winner Bruce Smith. Rare posed photo comes from “Photographic Laboratory U. of Minn.,” which is stamped on the back. Scarce photo of Smith in uniform technically grades g, and looks better.

Lot 404.  Sept. 2,1949 Wire Photo of Kyle Rote 7” x 9” B&W action photo features Rote of SMU on the field running past defenders. In 1950, Rote finished second to Vic Janowicz in the Heisman voting. Subsequently, he had a productive NFL career with the New York Giants. Vg-ex.

Lot 405.  8” x 10” B&W Photo of Terry Bradshaw – Steelers Punter! Uncommon 1980 photo shows Bradshaw kicking the football in place of injured punter Craig Colquitt. Photo has writing on the back; otherwise, ex-m.

Lot 406.  13” x 22” San Francisco 49ers Vintage Cardboard Poster from Kezar Stadium. The text on the poster reads “Forty Niner Reserved Seats $5.50.” A vintage 1950s 49ers logo accompanies the text.

Lot 407.  Scarce Ticket Stub for a 1936 Chicago Bears-Pittsburgh Pirates (Steelers) Game. The teams met Oct. 4 at Forbes Field, and the Bears won, 27-9. The Pittsburgh football team, known as the “Pirates” until 1941, was in only its fourth NFL season. The facsimile autograph of team founder Art Rooney is on the stub, which is vg+ to ex with a score written in pencil on the blank back.

Lot 408.  Ticket Stub for the 1938 Army-Navy Game. To complete an 8-2 season, Army won, 14-7, at Municipal Stadium in Philadelphia. The stub has a vertical crease and some scrapbook residue on the reverse. It also exhibits blazing color and is a classic piece of memorabilia from an equally classic rivalry.

Lot 409.  5 Different 1940s Full Tickets for Temple University Football Games. Tickets are for games against Villanova in 1940, Georgetown and V.M.I. in 1942 and V.M.I. and Swarthmore in 1943. Colorful, complete and nm to mint.

Lot 411.  1999-2001 Michigan Football Season Tickets in Uncut Strips of 6. Each season has a particular theme – “Coaching Legends” including Fielding Yost and Bo Schembechler for 1999; “Bowl Tradition,” including Bob Chappuis and Tom Brady for 2000; and the 75th Anniversary of Michigan Stadium for 2001. Colorful, attractive and ex-m+.

Lot 412.  1940 Pitt at Ohio State Football Program. Halfback Les Horvath was a sophomore reserve on this Buckeye team, which defeated Pittsburgh, 21-14. Shown in the program, he won the Heisman Trophy in 1944. Ohio State finished the season 4-3-1, and Pitt, 3-4-1. The OSU coaching staff, which is pictured, included Sid Gilman and Gomer Jones. One African-American player was on the Buckeye team, Charles Anderson. Ex with some very light soiling at the top of the front cover.

Lot 413.  1947, 1953 Pitt vs. Notre Dame Programs Plus 2 Ticket Stubs. At Pitt Stadium on Oct. 4, 1947, the Fighting Irish demolished the Panthers, 40-6. On the roster for Notre Dame were two eventual Heisman Trophy winners and a runner-up – Johnny Lujack, Leon Hart and Emil Sitko, as well as George Connor, Bill Wightkin, Frank Tripucka, Terry Brennan and Jim Martin. All are pictured. The front cover has a chip along the right edge and a 1-1 ½” x 4” area of paper loss. The inside is complete and vg-ex. The result was less lopsided when the teams met on Oct. 17, 1953, at Notre Dame. The Irish won, 23-14. They finished the season at 9-0-1, a very close second to Maryland in the AP poll. The program is ex+ and contains pictures of such stars as Johnny Lattner, Art Hunter, Ralph Guglielmi and Frank Varichione, The ticket stubs are for games at Notre Dame in 1962 (vg+) and 1976 (irregular separation; vg-ex appearance).
