Lot 241.  13 Different T218 Cards Including Willie Hoppe, Golfers, Bowlers, Etc. Hoppe is the Babe Ruth of the billiard table. This collection from the Champion Athletes and Prizefighters set features 7 pool & billiard players, 2 golfers, 2 bowlers, 1 roller skater and 1 aviator. Eleven cards are vg-ex, including Hoppe (horizontal), Hoppe (vertical), Herreshoff and one golfer. The card of Low, the other golfer, is vg. One card is f-g.

Lot 243.  1937 Players “Speedway Riders” Set of 50 + 12 1929 Ogden’s “Famous Dirt-Track Riders.” The “Speedway Riders” set presents color portraits of the top motorcyclists of the 1920s-30s. Members of the Motorcycle Hall of Fame are on two cards – Cordy and Jack Milne. Overall, vg-ex. The 12 “Famous Dirt-Track Riders” cards are colorful and scarce. Each shows the rider in a portrait and in action. The cards are #1, 3, 7-9, 13, 18, 19, 21 and 23-25. They average vg to vg-ex.

Lot 244.  Nm to Nm-M 1939 Churchman “Kings of Speed” Set of 50 with Howard Hughes, Jesse Owens. These cards have a photo on the front and a brief biography on the back. A smiling, youthful Hughes, in suit, tie and goggles, is pictured on card #6. Owens, running in an event, is the subject of card #45. Both are nm-m.

Lot 248.  Autograph of Gymnast Kim Zmeskal on the Aug. 10, 1992 Issue of Newsweek. Zmeskal won World Championships in gymnastics in 1991 and 1992. Competing with a stress fracture of an ankle, the 16-year-old was unable to capture a medal at the 1992 Olympics. She was the focus of a controversy, which this edition of Newsweek highlighted, over whether girl gymnasts were being pushed too hard. Vg+ to ex issue without a label. Sharpie signature is a 10. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

The other signers are Chris Schenkel (2 autographs), Brent Musburger, Ernie Harwell and Skip Caray. The Gowdy, McKay, Costas and Musburger autographs, and one Schenkel autograph, are personalized to “Jimmy.” The personalized Schenkel signature is a cut. The autographs are nm-m 8 and better.
