Lot 437.  4 Baseball Cards Signed by HoF Members - Alston, Appling, Jackson, Perry. Walt Alston signed a g-vg copy of 1961 Topps #136; his signature is a 10. “Luke” Appling’s autograph, a 9, is on an ex-m+ 1983 Donruss Hall of Fame Heroes card. An ex 1961 Fleer card, #115, has a personalized Travis Jackson signature that rates a 6-7. Gaylord Perry’s sharpie 10 signature is on an ex-m card from a series of 6 that he produced. Lot 438.  Vintage Autographs of Hal Newhouser and Ralph Kiner + Buck Leonard. Newhouser’s ballpoint signature is on a folded 4” x 6” sheet of paper mailed in a Detroit Baseball Company envelope in 1947. The signature is a 10. In fountain pen, Kiner signed the blank side of a government postcard mailed in 1948. Above his signature, which grades 8-9, he wrote, “Sorry but I haven’t any baseball.” Leonard’s signature on his Hall of Fame business card is a 10. Authen-ticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 439.  Auto-graphs of Baseball HoF Executives Chandler, Giles + Bowie Kuhn. These signatures, on unlined index cards, rate 10. A. B. Chandler was Commissioner of Baseball 1945-51, and Warren Giles, N.L. President 1951-69. Both were elected to the Hall of Fame. Bowie Kuhn was Commissioner 1969-79. Giles died in 1979, and Chandler in 1991. Authenticated by Kevin Keating. The Giles autograph alone is worth our MB.

Lot 441.  8” x 10” Color Photos Signed by Lou Boudreau, Bobby Doerr, Bob Feller. Each photo is mounted on a 10 ½” x 13” nm wood plaque. The signatures are sharpie 10s. Boudreau is pictured in a Boston Red Sox uniform. After 11 stellar seasons in Cleveland, Boudreau concluded his career in Boston in 1951 and 1952. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 442.  Autographed Photos of Carl Yastrzemski, Wade Boggs, Jim Rice, Mike Greenwell. The signatures of these Boston Red Sox stars are sharpie 10s on 8” x 10” color photos, which are mounted on nm 10 ½” x 13” wood plaques. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 443.  Signed 8” x 10” Color Photos of Mark McGwire, Will Clark, Jose Canseco. Each photo is mounted on wood plaque. One signed photo features both McGwire and Canseco. Their autographs are sharpie 10s. Canseco is alone in another photo; the signature is a 10. Clark is shown at bat; his signature also is a 10. Authen-ticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 444.  6 Letters on Baseball Club Stationery, 1947-81. The first three letters are to a father concerning a minor league career for one or both of his sons. 1. Jan. 15, 1947, Harry C. Jenkins, Boston Braves farm director. Secretarial signature. 2. March 7, 1952, George Sisler, Pittsburgh Pirates supervisor of scouts. Secretarial signature. Envelope included. 3. March 11, 1952, Joe Mathes, director, Minor League Clubs, St. Louis Cardinals. Apparently secretarial. Envelope. 4. Feb. 12, 1954, John Sarlo, business manager, Ogden Reds of the Pioneer League. This letter offers the son a contract with Ogden for a salary of $250 per month. Signature is a 10. 5. Dec. 20, 1972, Hal Middlesworth, Detroit Tigers public relations director, writes concerning the purchase of World Series souvenir badges. A “2” is written on the letter. 6. May 24, 1981, a wonderful handwritten letter by Joe L. Brown, Pittsburgh Pirates former general manager, concerning the purchase of press pins. Envelope. Signature and letter grade 10. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 445.  Phillies Autographs –Roberts, Sawyer, Camilli, Bowa + Aloha from an Athletic. Robin Roberts signed a blank-backed postcard issued in connection with a sports card show. Personalized. Dolph Camilli autographed the back of ticket for a 1973 golf tournament. Eddie Sawyer signed two items, a postcard-sized photo and a program for a 1976 Philadelphia area card show. Larry Bowa’s signature is on a 6” x 9” Phillies photo inside a program for a “father and son communion breakfast.” The signatures are 10s. Sawyer and Camilli both died in 1997. Also, a Hawaiian Christmas Card Autographed Twice by Eddie Joost’s wife. The card with a hula-skirted fat Santa Claus wishes the recipient “Mele Kalikimaka” – Merry Christmas. Mailed from Honolulu in 1975, the card has a note inside signed “Eddie,” and the card itself, “Alice and Eddie Joost.” Signatures are 10s – by Mrs. Joost. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 446.  Vintage Autographs of 6 Boston Red Sox Players. These autographs are on unlined index cards unless otherwise noted. 1. Dick Gernert, Red Sox first baseman 1952-59, 9-10 autograph on an index-card-sized sheet of paper. 2. Jim Maloney, shortstop 1959, 9-10. 3. Bob Seeds, outfielder 1933-34, died 1993, 9-10. 4. Wally Snell, catcher 1913 (his only season; 6 games), died 1980, 10. Added “Red Sox 1913.” 5. Dizzy Trout, pitcher 1952, died 1972, 10. 6. Charlie Wagner, pitcher 1938-42, 1946; autograph is a 10 on a lined card. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 447.  1951-52 St. Louis Cardinals Postcards Autographed by Stan Musial, Bill Werle. These postcards say “Dear Friend” in regular type on the front and have a Sportsman’s Park address on the back. The Werle card is ex, and the Musial, ex-m. Each autograph in blue ballpoint is a 10. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
