Lot 374.  12 1930s-40s Scorecards Issued by Chicago Newspapers. Most have been scored and are folded in half, apparently as issued. Four scorecards from the Herald and Examiner each picture a player – Rip Radcliffe and Jimmy Dykes of the White Sox and Gabby Hartnett and Rip Collins of the Cubs. Another shows the newspaper’s sports editor, Edward W. Cochrane. These scorecards are for games with the Boston Bees, Reds, Cardinals, Athletics and Senators. Four other scorecards from the same newspaper are for games with the Reds (2), Athletics and Indians. The Chicago Daily News issued scorecards with a local player and a visitor. The three offered here show Marty Marion (Cards) and Stan Hack (Cubs), Marion and Phil Cavarretta, and Joe Kuhel (White Sox) and George Case (Senators). Three other scorecards are for games with the Giants, Cardinals and Boston Braves. These scorecards average ex.

Lot 375.  1945 St. Louis Cardinals Scorecard, 1955 Yearbook. Stan Musial spent 1945 in the U.S. Navy, but Red Schoendienst, Marty Marion and Harry Brecheen were available for baseball duty. Nice vg program with an ex appearance for a game with the Cubs. The Cardinals’ mascot is on the cover of the 1955 yearbook, vg-ex cover with the spine split 4” up from the bottom; ex-m contents. Inside, Harvey Haddix and Musial receive substantial attention. Rookies Ken Boyer and Bill Virdon are pictured, as well as the team’s first black player, Tom Alston.

Lot 376.  1952 New York Yankees Sketch Book (Yearbook), 2 Other Publications. The 1952 edition marks the yearbook debut of Mickey Mantle. He shares a page with Gene Woodling. The World Championship team also is pictured. Vg-ex. Mantle is on the cover of the Sept. 1964 issue of Sport magazine, vg. A copy of the Yankees’ 1972 yearbook is ex.

Lot 377.  1949 Complete Baseball Magazine, 1953 Cleveland Indians Yearbook. The magazine pictures three great players of the era on the cover - Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio and Stan Musial. Hundreds of player photos and statistics are featured inside. Vg cover, ex pages. Titled Play Ball! The Cleveland Indians’ Official 1953 Picture and Record Book, the yearbook is loaded with pictures and players’ records. Hank Greenberg was general manager of the team, and Al Lopez was in charge on the field. G cover, ex pages inside.

Lot 379.  1959 Chicago White Sox at Los Angeles World Series Program. Nm unscored copy with a few tiny stress creases along the spine and several small indentations (¼” maximum) at the “W” in “White.” Exceptional appearance.

Lot 380.  1960 World Series Pittsburgh Pirates at New York Yankees Game 3 Program. Vg cover with the date and score written at the bottom. Clean ex contents with the game neatly scored. The Yankees handily won this game, 10-0, as Bobby Richardson contributed a grand slam and Mickey Mantle went four for five and drove in two runs.

Lot 381.  10 L.A. Dodgers Yearbooks, 1963-75, 1977 W.S. Program, 1978 Blue Book. The yearbooks are for 1964 and 1965, both vg+ to ex; 1966 nm; 1967 vg-ex; 1968-69, both nm; 1971 mint; and 1972, 1974 and 1975, ex-m. An 11th yearbook, for 1980, is vg-ex. Also, a 1977 World Series program, ex+; the 1978 Blue Book, which provides “complete Brooklyn-Los Angeles statistics of all Dodger players from 1900,” light foxing on the cover, otherwise ex-m; and a 1998 “Commemorative Hall of Fame Issue” of Dodger Magazine.
