It has small inset photos of Mel Ott, Joe DiMaggio, Lefty Grove, Carl Hubbell, Bob Feller and Hank Greenberg. A 1949 Wheaties ad titled “Champions start young!” pictures Musial, the 1948 batting champion, teaching his son Dick how to play ball. Musial and Williams, as the 1946 MVPs, share a 1947 Chesterfield ad. Each ad is about 11” x 14” framed to about 13 ½” x 15 ½”. The Wheaties ads are vg+ to ex and the Chesterfield ad nm as framed.

This sign, which promotes “games on radio and television,” is for recording the scores of Philadelphia Athletics and Phillies games. It displays some small scratches and surface rubs that do little to affect its attractive appearance. Great game room items!
Winning Bid $68.

Lot 303.  1943 “Major League” Baseball Game from G. H. Anderson of Cincinnati. This straightforward game consists of a board with a spinner attached. The spinner determines the outcome of a player’s turn at bat. Apparently in 1949, the game’s owner customized the board to represent the Rochester Red Wings. Players are listed at each position in the field, including (Steve) Bilko at first base and (Dick) Cole at shortstop. Besides the writing, the 11” x 14” board has some tape on it and otherwise is vg. The wood game pieces are absent. The spinner works. The original envelope for the game displays well with strip of tape, a tear along one side and ink marks on the blank back. Copies of the original instructions are included. Display it, or play it!

Mack, Vice President and brother of Connie Mack. The letter has a couple of small stains, and holes are punched to fit a binder. 2. A ticket stub for an Aug. 12, 1951 game; vg. Philadelphia defeated the Yankees, 9-5.
Winning Bid $15.

Lot 308.  St. Louis Cardinals 1949 World Series “Phantom” Ticket. The Cardinals printed tickets for the 1949 World Series, but finished second to Brooklyn in the National League by one game. To fans who ordered Series tickets, the Cards sent tickets with an overprint that says: “We’re really RED Birds now – embarrassed as can be. But here’s a World Series tickets as a souvenir. And (surprise!) you get your money back, too. Seriously, thank you for your interest and support. It’s grand to know we have so many good fans.
