Lot 104.  1934 Babe Ruth Boys Club Esso Contest Coupon, Original Pins. In the contest sponsored by the Esso (now Exxon) gas stations, customers could win a baseball signed by Ruth or a trip to his Spring Training Camp. The 4” x 6” coupon, unseparated at the perforation, has holes from two staples at the top and otherwise is ex-m. There are two 1 ½” pins. The first says “Babe Ruth Boys Club Charter Member,” with Esso identified in the center. Some rim wear; otherwise ex. The second pin says “This pin certifies Babe Ruth shook my hand.” Ex.

Lot 107.  Pete Rose Collection Featuring a Signed Pennant, 1960s Cards, publications, etc. Rose’s signature, a blue ballpoint 8-9, is on a large 1978 pennant cataloging his 44-game hitting streak. The pennant has two pin holes, light toning along the left and otherwise is vg+ to ex. Among 150 cards are these from Topps: 1966 #30 g, 1967 #430 g-vg, 1968 #230 g, 1969 #120 (1 g-vg, 1 vg, 1 vg-ex), 1970 #458 vg, 1970 Super #34 vg+, 1971 #100 vg, 1975 (1 g, 1 g-vg). The other 1970s cards average ex. The 1980s and 1990s are generally at least nm. The 1985 P.R.E. Rose set is nm-m. Also, a 1985 Wheaties box, a clock commemorating Rose’s hitting steak, a pin, two 8 ½” x 11” color photos and a Reds pennant. Thirty publications involve Rose, including “Pete Rose: My Story,” 1989 first edition hardback, nm. Rose is on the cover of “Sports Illustrated” twice, “Time,” “Sport” twice and Reds publications. Excellent and varied Rose collection. Autograph authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 108.  50 Philadelphia Pins, Related Items, Including 2 1965 “Go! Phillies Go!” Pins. Rich Allen and Jim Bunning are featured on the 3 ½” “Go” pins issued in 1965. The Allen pin is vg-ex because of light foxing, and the Bunning pin, vg with somewhat more foxing. Other player pins, most 3”, picture Rose, Carlton (2), Money, Dykstra, Luzinski, Bowa, Boone and Trillo. Average ex-m. Seven pins, ranging from 3” to 6”, commemorate N.L. titles in 1977, 1983 (3 different) and 1993 (3 different). One is g-vg, 2 vg and four ex-m or better. One of the scarcer pins is for June 30 and July 1 fireworks at games with the Pittsburgh Pirates, nm. Among the others are a 1950s 1 ¼” crossed bats pin, one picturing Veterans Stadium, “Vote Phillies All-Star,” “Year of the Phan, Phillies 1990” and “We Loves Phillies and Show It.” Two vg, 1 vg-ex, 2 ex-m+. A 2 ¼” pin proclaims “We (Heart) Tug (McGraw), Magee Rehabilitation Hospital,” ex. A 1950s 5” patch features the Phillies’ logotype against a Quaker figure, ex. A patch and 18 window decals picture the Phillies’ colonial kids, ex.

Lot 110.  1970s 18” x 35 ½” “National Baseball Hall of Fame Members” Pennant, Mini Bat. Abstract images of 45 players or managers are set against the green field of this impressive pennant, which also depicts the Hall of Fame itself. Vg-ex with two tack holes at the left. Among the players are Ruth, Gehrig, Wagner, Foxx, Walter Johnson, Williams, Musial, Campanella, Jackie Robinson, Berra and Koufax. The pennant is inside a 41” x 28” frame. Also, a 16” Hillerich & Bradsby Louisville Slugger 125 mini bat that says “National Baseball Hall of Fame, Cooperstown, N.Y.” on the barrel. Vg-ex.
