Lot 513.  149 1909-11 T59 “Flags of All Nations.” All different, these cards constitute almost three-fourths of the set. Most backs are Recruit in various colors. There also are Jack Rose, Sweet Caporal, Sub Rosa, Hustler and Scrap Iron backs, and one Big Run. Eleven cards have back damage; otherwise, the backs are very clean. Eighty-eight cards are vg or better, including a decent number of ex cards, and 61 are less than vg.

Lot 514.  1912/1923 John Player & Sons “Characters from Dickens” Set of 50. Such Dickens characters as David Copperfield, Scrooge and the Artful Dodger are shown in drawings on the fronts of these cards and described in text on the backs. The British cigarette company issued the set in two 25-card series in 1912, and then re-issued it in 1923. This set consists of 29 cards from 1912 and 21 from 1923. The card fronts are identical. Designation on the back as “A Series of 50” distinguishes the 1923 edition. A somewhat difficult, desirable, entertaining set. Vg-ex with some cards less, some better.

Collection is free of duplicates. 1953 Topps World on Wheels, 39 cards, 19 vg-ex or better, 20 vg-ex or less. 1965 Donruss Spec Sheet, 18 ex to ex-m. 1975 Donruss Truckin’, 15 ex-m. 1970s Donruss Choppers and Hot Bikes, 5 ex. Topps Autos of 1977, 4 foil stickers, ex. Topps Auto Stickers, 15 ex. 1937 John Player & Sons “Speedway Riders” set of 50. The set features pictures and biographical sketches of top competitive motorcyclists. Overall, it is ex-m with many better cards and a few less.

Lot 798.  5 Early 1900s Actresses on 3 Old Mill Colored Silks and 2 Sweet Caporal Pins. The silks are rich and colorful with actresses Maxine Elliot, Elsie Ferguson and L. Harris. Unstained and vg-ex to ex. The sepia pins have images of Deyo and Madeline Bouton. Vg-ex to ex with the paper backs present. Wonderful period pieces.

Lot 799.  11 Scarce Early 20th Century Caramel Flag Cards. These cards are much less common than tobacco cards. E15 American Caramel Flags. Nine different. E16 John H. Dockman & Son Flags, China. E17 Breisch-Williams Flags, Bolivia. Five cards are ex or better, and six are less than ex.

Lot 800.  44 1940s Card-O Ships & Planes. Group consists of: 8 Series A “U.S. Navy” cards. All have the “Card-O” designation on the back. 6 Series B “Aeroplanes.” All are the front-without-numbers, text-back variety. 17 Series C “Aeroplanes,” all without the “Joker” designation. 6 Series D “Aeroplanes.” Five have the “Card-O” reference. Of these, four say “25 cards” and one says “27 cards.” The other card has the “27 cards” back. There also four Aircraft Recognition Cards, one Air Squadron Insignia card with a Walt Disney Productions copyright on the back, and two Mixed Series cards.

Lot 801.  Topless Topps 1952 “Wings” 1-Cent Box. The bottom of the box dates the set at 1952, although it was listed in the American Card Catalog as a 1953 set. The box bottom displays well, with one tear and several creases.

Lot 805.  1956 Topps U.S. Presidents Partial Set of 24 out of 36 cards. Topps used the artwork that it acquired when it purchased Bowman Gum to reissue this set. What a great start on this historical set! Cards here are #3, 5, 6, 7, 9-12, 14-23, 25-27, 31, 32 and 34. Ex-m with a few less and a few better.
