Lot 823.  Rare Elgin Record Paying Tribute President Kennedy + Other Presidential Items. Titled “Lead the Way JFK,” this 45 rpm record was released, apparently at the end of 1963, by Elgin Records of Hamden, Conn.  It features the Angelic Choir directed by Rev. L. Roberts.  Elgin Records folded by the mid-1960s.  Nm-m.  Accompanying the record are a holiday card from President and Mrs. Carter and an invitation to the 1993 inauguration of President Clinton.  Both items are nm.

Lot 826.  Two Wonderful Vintage Mickey Mouse Items. 1. Early 1960s “Mickey Mouse Elegant Miniatures Stutz Bearcat” in the original box from Walt Disney Productions. Colorful box pictures Mickey seated in his Stutz Bearcat. Both the box and the car are in pristine condition. 2. Mickey Mouse transistor radio, which doesn’t work. The knob of the radio moves Mickey’s arm up and down to find the desired station.

Lot 827.  Great Lot of 20 1950s Comic Books. If you’re the right age, the memories will come rushing: Howdy Doody, the Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers, Hopalong Cassidy, the Cisco Kid, Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Tom Corbett Space Cadet, Rin Tin Tin and Lassie are here with many others. 10 comic books retain their covers; 10 do not. Robin Roberts and Bob Davies each appear in colorful Wheaties ads on the back covers of two comic books.

Lot 828.  Vintage 8” X 10” Color Publicity Photo of James Dean with Facsimile Autograph. To this day, images of James Dean grace innumerable venues.  If you were a James Dean fan at the height of his acting career, perhaps this magnificent publicity photo would have been part of your collection.  The photo is identified as a “Moss Color Picture” New York.  It is pre-Zip Code.  There is a very light inoffensive stain in the lower left border; otherwise, the condition is superb.  With run-of-the-mill current reproduction photos of Dean costing $15-$25, what is this authentic vintage publicity photo worth?

Lot 829.  5 1930s-50s Life, Look Magazines with Shirley Temple Covers. Temple was the most popular child actor of the 1930s, and she remains one of Hollywood’s most adored performers. The Life issues capture Temple’s transition from child to adult mother. She is on these covers: July 11, 1938 (ex issue) at the age of 10, March 30, 1942 (ex+) just shy of her 14th birthday and Feb. 3, 1958 (ex) at 29. The issues of Look are scarcer than Life, and also more attractive with color cover. Temple is shown on the Dec. 21, 1937 issue (vg-ex) with Santa Claus and on the Nov. 16, 1943 issue (ex).

Lot 830.  14 1930s-40s Look Issues with Churchill, Lindbergh, Dionne Quints, Etc. Life magazine may have won the circulation wars but Look’s color covers were superior in the 1930s and 1940s. Because of lower circulation, the Look issues are much scarcer than Life’s. Through 1937, front covers have a main color photo and several small b&w photos. After that, a color photo occupies the full front cover. The issues: March 1937 (Vol. 1, No. 3), vg-ex, small front Garbo photo, large Marlene Dietrich photo on the back. April 1937, vg+ to ex, small Dietrich on the front, large Jean Harlow on the back. May 1937, vg-ex, small Harlow; Clark Gable and Carole Lombard on the back. June 7, 1938, ex-m, Dionne Quintuplets at the age of four. Nov. 9, 1937, vg-ex, circus cover. April 11, 1939, ex-m, great Charles Lindbergh cover. Nov. 2, 1943, two copies, one ex-m+, one vg-ex, Maj. Lot 831.  18 Different Circa 1919 Murad Cigarette Advertisements. Clipped from magazines, these ads capitalize on the color explosion in printing that occurred in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The size of the ads ranges from 5 ¼” x 7 ¾” to 10 ½” x 14”. The condition ranges from f to ex+. In general, the image area is unaffected by border chips and tears at the edges. Beautiful for display.

Lot 832.  51 Copies of Playbill for Broadway Productions + 18 Related Publications. The Playbill issues range from 1942-84. Cover highlights include Martha Raye in “Hello, Dolly!” Anthony Quinn in “Zorba,” Lauren Bacall in “Applause,” Zero Mostel in “Fiddler on the Roof,” Nanette Fabray in “Mr. President,” Cicely Tyson in “The Corn is Green,” Angela Lansbury in “Dear World,” Lucille Ball in “Wildcat,” Katherine Hepburn in “Coco” and Judy Holliday in “Bells are Ringing.” There are Playbills also for “Life with Father,” “Chicago,” “Annie,” “Barefoot in the Park,” “Cabaret” and “A Chorus Line.” Most of the other programs are for events at Radio City Music Hall. There also are programs for “Irma la Douce” and “Hats Off to Ice,” a 1944 event. Sonja Heine is pictured. Issues average ex; most have a date written on the front.

Lot 833.  21 Movie Stills and Actor Portraits Including Reagan, Wyman, Stewart, Etc. All are black & white, and most are about 8” x 10”. The list: Martin and Lewis, Leslie Nielsen and Debbie Reynolds, Burt Lancaster, George Raft (“A Dangerous Profession”), David Niven (“The Lady Says No”), Spencer Tracy, Jerry Lewis (2 “Artists and Models”), Edgar Buchanan, Caesar Romero, James Stewart (2 - “Strategic Air Command,” “Broken Arrow”), Johnny Weissmuller (“Swamp Fire”), James Cagney (2), William Holden (“The Country Girl”), Alan Ladd, Paul Newman, Ronald Reagan, Jane Wyman and Ann Sheridan (“George Washington Slept Here”). Technically these photos are vg and less. The images of the actors are typically clean and strong.

Lot 834.  Movie Souvenir Books for “The Ten Commandments,” “Richard III” and “Cleopatra.” These oversized paperback publications depict scenes from the movies, outline the stories and present photographs of the stars. The first two are from 1956, and “Cleopatra,” from 1963. “The Ten Commandments” contains the dramatic artwork of Arnold Friberg, a respected religious artist; 32 pages, g-vg. “Richard III” features an 8” x 9 ½” cover pastedown that reproduces Salvador Dali’s portrait of the movie’s star, Laurence Olivier; 16 , ex-m. “Cleopatra,” which runs 48 pages, offers numerous photos of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Lot 835.  Oversized 1962 Program for “Annie Get Your Gun” Starring Ginger Rogers at the Carter Barron Amphitheater in Rock Creek Park in Washington, D.C. Sixteen-page program pictures the key actors, including Rogers, and presents brief biographies of Annie Oakley, the central character in the musical, and Irving Berlin, who wrote the music and lyrics. Ex-m with “8-1-62” written on the cover.
