Lot 935.  Programs, Seating Lists from the 1983, 1984 All Sports Hall of Fame Dinners. As a fundraiser, the Boys’ Club of New York sponsored these events, which recognized recent inductees to the Baseball, Basketball, Pro Football, Hockey, Tennis and Golf Halls of Fame. Each program contains about 100 pages, including photos and biographical sketches of the new Hall of Fame members. Ex+. The seating charts make for interesting reading too.

Lot 936.  32 Issues of 4 Different Magazines Covering the World of Sports, 1942-70. Each publication covers sports very broadly, in a manner similar to sports illustrated. The publications are Sports Illustrated (a short-lived Dell publication), Sports’ Cavalcade, Great Moments in Sports and Sport Annual. The Sports Illustrated is Vol. 1, No. 1 from Feb. 1949 and has Kentucky basketball player Ralph Beard on the cover. Vg+. Articles deal with Joe Louis, Al Dark and Richie Ashburn, Ben Hogan, Bob Mathias and more. The four issues of Sports’ Cavalcade, a monthly publication, are from different years, 1962-64. Issues average ex+; Bart Starr is on the cover of a Jan. 1964 issue that has a news stand notation and otherwise is ex-m+. This issue has an eight-page article on Mickey Mantle. The 14 issues of Great Moments in Sports range from Feb. 1967 through March 1964. Between these two, two issues are from 1958, three from 1960, two from 1961, one from 1962 and four from 1964. Cover subjects include Bob Cousy, Sugar Ray Robinson, Archie Moore, Paul Hornung, Stan Musial, Joe DiMaggio and Roger Staubach. Issues average ex, some better, some less; four have news stand marks. The 13 issues of Sport Annual, produced by Sport magazine, are 1949-51, 1953, 1954, 1962, 1964 and 1965-70. All the stars are here - Louis, Doak Walker, Ezzard Charles, Hogan, Rocky Marciano, Cousy, Roy Campanella, Mantle, Roger Maris, Sandy Koufax, Jim Brown, Johnny Unitas, Willie Mays, Muhammad Ali, Bill Russell, etc. These issues average ex; one has a news stand notation. Lot 938.  Unused 1923 Calendar Featuring a Horse Racing Scene and promoting cognac from M. Tiffon & Co. of France. Colorful calendar is 9 ¼” x 12 ½”. Fingerprint smudge in lower right, some bumps in the border in the upper right. Ex appearance.

Lot 939.  Olympic, Track & Field, Multi-Sport Publication, Ticket, Card Collection. Fifty-eight issues of Sports Illustrated from 1954-78 and nine issues of Life from the 1940s-80s cover the Olympics, yachting, skiing, swimming, chess, ice skating, track and field, soccer, marathon racing, hunting and fishing. Among the heroes and champions pictured are Mel Patton of USC, Bonnie Blair, Frank Shorter, Pele, Parry O’Brien, Jim Ryun, Jean Claude Killy, Peggy Fleming, Nadia Comaneci, Bruce Jenner and Bill Rodgers. These issues have mailing labels and average ex, some less, some better. Also, SI’s 1995 “Future Legends: The 20 Brightest Young Stars in Sports” and three paperbacks, including “Here’s Why: Science in Sports.” Booklets: 1963 “Jarman Journal of All Sports” and “Sports Shots” on Jim Kelly, Marino, Ryan and Strawberry. Ticket Stubs: For a 1969 lacrosse match between the Onondaga Indians and Rochester Chiefs. 10 stubs for MISL soccer, including 1981 St. Louis Steamers games, MISL Semi-Finals and the MISL All-Star game. Also, a stub for a 1981 Southern Illinois vs. St. Louis U. match at Busch Stadium. Cards: 1935 Ardath Tobacco “Cricket, Tennis & Golf Celebrities,” Helen Jacobs, U.S. tennis player, ex-m+. 1936 or 1937 Ardath “Photocards,” #145 Fred Perry, “World’s Number One lawn tennis player,” ex-m+. 1954 Quaker “Sports Oddities,” #3 George Quam, one-armed handball champion, 2 nm copies, and #15 Jackie LaVine, champion Chicago swimmer, 3 nm to nm-m copies. Also, a postcard of a Dortmand, Germany, arena and a 1994 soccer card of Erwin Sanchez. And an unused scrapbook with many sports shown on the cover. About 100 individual items.
