Lot 307.  1957 SI Signed by Johnny Lee, Described on the Cover as an “Ivy League Star.” Lee signed the cover of the Jan. 21 issue in blue sharpie after adding “Best Wishes.” Ex magazine. Signature is 10 of 10. Lee died in May 2001. He may have been the best basketball player in Yale’s history. He averaged slightly more than 20 points per game, and scored 40 in a game against Harvard. Graduating with a degree in chemical engineering, he passed up a pro career with the New York Knicks to work on a master’s degree. He had a successful business career. He is in the New York City Basketball Hall of Fame. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 308.  Autograph of Basketball Hall of Fame Player Frank Ramsey on the Dec. 9, 1963 SI. Ramsey was a winner. He helped the University of Kentucky to win a championship, and then he contributed to seven titles with the Boston Celtics. More comfortable coming off the bench than starting, he was the first great “sixth man.” Excellent College Basketball edition. Sharpie signature is a 10. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 309.  Autograph of Celtics Star Tommy Heinsohn on the Oct. 26, 1964 SI. In nine seasons with Boston, Heinsohn played on eight championship teams. He led the talent-rich Celtics in scoring three times. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1986. Sharpie 10 autograph on an ex issue. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 311.  Elvin Hayes Autograph on the Jan. 29, 1968 SI. The cover photo shows Hayes shooting against Law Alcindor (Jabbar). The master of the turnaround jump shot, Hayes played in 12 consecutive NBA All-Star games. He is in the Basketball Hall of Fame. Vg-ex issue. Silver sharpie signature is a10. Lot 312.  Earl “The Pearl” Monroe Autograph on the Nov. 4, 1968 SI. The NBA Rookie of the Year in 1968, Monroe was one of the game’s most flamboyant and artistic players. Ex issue. Signature in sharpie is a 10 with “The Pearl” added below his name. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 313.  March 9, 1970 SI Signed by HoF Basketball Star Billy Cunningham. A two-time All-American at North Carolina, Cunningham teamed with Wilt Chamberlain and Hal Greer to capture the 1967 NBA title for the Philadelphia 76ers. His career earned him a place in the Hall of Fame. Subsequently, he coached, and only Pat Riley reached the 300 and 400-win mark faster. Ex-m issue signed in blue sharpie. The autograph is a 10. Lot 314.  Oct. 25, 1971 News Stand SI Signed by HoF Basketball Star Dave DeBusschere, who also played major league baseball. A defensive stalwart who averaged 16 points a game over his career, DeBusschere led the Knicks to two championships. At the age of 24, he became the youngest coach ever in the NBA. Later, he serviced as vice president of the Nets, vice president of the Knicks and commissioner of the ABA. He died in 2003. Beautiful ex-m no-label news stand copy with a 10 sharpie autograph. Lot 321.  Nov. 18, 1985 SI Boldly Signed by LSU Basketball Coach Dale Brown. Highly successful and sometimes controversial at LSU for 25 seasons, Brown got into trouble for criticizing the NCAA for various rules and for its treatment of student-athletes. In turn, the NCAA found that Brown had run afoul of its rules. He was inducted into the Louisiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005. Vg+ to ex magazine with a sharpie 10 of 10 signature.
