Lot 761.  1948, 1954 Cleveland Indians World Series Programs. The Indians defeated Boston in the 1948 World Series and lost to New York Giants in 1954. In 1948, Larry Doby and Satchel Paige became the first A.L. African-American players in the Series. Both are pictured in the program, which has a vg+ cover with “10” printed on it in pencil. The interior is unscored and ex. The 1954 program is scored for Game 3. Newsclippings are glued inside on advertising pages. Stain on the cover; otherwise, vg-ex.

Lot 762.  8 1950s-60s Baseball Programs-Scorecards. Chicago White Sox: 1959 vs. the Yankees, writing on cover, otherwise vg+. For the rest of these programs, the San Francisco Giants are the visiting team. Pittsburgh Pirates: 1959, neatly scored, ex. 1959 g-vg. St. Louis Cardinals: 1961, scored, vg. Lot 763.  Scarce Program for the 1958 Hall of Fame Baseball Game featuring the original Washington Seantors and the Philadelphia Phillies. The game was played Aug. 4 at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown in conjunction with the Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. The unscored four-page program has a vertical crease, and there are some light stains inside. The back page contains information on the Hall of Fame and Doubleday Field.

Lot 764.  7 San Francisco Giants Yearbooks, 5 Programs. The Yearbooks are for: 1963 ex. 1967 vg with writing on the cover. 1971, autographs of Hal Lanier and Rich Robertson on the first inside page. Issue is vg+; signatures are 10s. 1972 ex+. 1973 ex+. 1974 ex+. 1975 ex-m+. The programs are for: 1970 vs. Philadelphia vg-ex, and vs. Houston, vg-ex with writing on the back cover. 1972 vs. Los Angeles ex. 1974 vs. Chicago nm. 1975 vs. Cincinnati ex. The 1971 Yearbook has a Bonds family portrait with six-month-old Barry. Mays, and Marichal are featured.

Lot 765.  Publications and Tickets from the Oakland A’s 1970s Championship Seasons. The A’s were World Champions for three consecutive seasons, 1972-74. Lot 767.  11 “National League Green Books” + 3 “Official National League Averages.” Covering N.L. teams exclusively, the Green Books contain 75-100 pages of extensive statistical information on the preceding season plus rosters and schedules for the upcoming campaign. The “Averages” publications provide detailed batting, pitching and fielding statistics. Green Books are for 1972, 1974, 1975, 1978-80, 1983-85, 1989 and 1991. Eight are spiral-bound, and three, perfect-bound. They average ex. The Official Averages booklets are for 1977, 1989 and 1992 and average ex-m.

Lot 768.  14 “American League Red Books” + the 1992 “Official National League Averages.” Covering A.L. teams exclusively, the Red Books contain 80-100 pages of extensive statistical information on the preceding season plus rosters and schedules for the upcoming campaign. Red Books are for 1972, 1974, 1975, 1977-80, 1982, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991 and 1992. Nine are spiral-bound, and five, perfect-bound. They average ex with a couple better, a couple less. The “Averages” publication provides detailed batting, pitching and fielding statistics and is vg-ex.

Lot 769.  1969 Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year Issue” with Tom Seaver + a Bonus. Seaver won 25 games while losing only seven in the regular season to lead the Miracle Mets to the World Series. This copy has the label removed, and there is some sun fading along the edges. Also, the Sporting News “Centennial Issue” commemorating 100 years of publishing. Vg cover, ex inside with plenty of baseball history.

The 1953 “Official Guide,” Robin Roberts cover, vg+. Also from TSN: Abbreviated versions of the “Guide” produced for the St. Louis Cardinals. There are two issues for 1957, one with an ad on the front for Schaefer Beer and Lucky Strikes, and one with a Cardinal mascot and an ad for Busch Bavarian Beer. The other issues, with the mascot on the front, are for 1955 and 1956. These four issues average vg+. These wonderful vintage publications are loaded with photos and statistics.

Lot 837.  97 Issues of Sports Collectors Digest, 1976-84. Follow the evolution and revolutions of the hobby with this collection that begins with SCD’s 62nd issue, dated April 30, 1976. Sixteen issues are from 1977, 22 from 1978, 23 from 1979, 20 from 1980, 14 from 1981 and one from 1984. These issues average ex. All of these issues except from 1984 are pre-Krause ownership. These issues were produced by Stommen Publications of Milan, Michigan. Great hobby reference material.
