Lot 582.  1971 Carl Aldana Set of 16 Obscure “Yesterday Heroes” - Valued at $10 or $125. If you don’t know who Walt Judnich is, then you may not recognize anyone from this set. Among the “heroes” of the 1940s and 1950s are Jim Westlake, who had a one-game major league career with the Phillies, and pitcher Ken Gables, 11-7 for Pittsburgh in 1945, and then gone forever from the majors with a 54.00 ERA after one game in 1947. The cards are nm. The SCD Standard Catalog prices this set at $125. The Beckett Almanac says it’s a $10 set. Here’s your chance to set the price for Judnich, the Browns’ outfielder; Ed Saurer, the Cubs’ outfielder, and Harry Malmberg, a one-season Tigers second baseman. We’re not taking sides, but we have to start somewhere.
Winning Bid $273.

Lot 583.  Scarce 1975 Hostess Twinkies Uncut Sheet Set of 60. Key cards are the Yount rookie, Ryan and Rose. All of these cards are free of creases. The sheet has a couple of minor creases and displays as ex-m. All but a few cards would be “mint.”
Winning Bid $61.
