Lot 719. George Brace Photo Postcard Signed by Bob O’Farrell, 1926 N.L. MVP. A solid catcher, O’Farrell hit .293 and drove in 68 runs for the St. Louis Cardinals in 1926. More importantly, his leadership and expertise in calling games enabled the Cards’ pitching staff to exceed expectations. They won the N.L. championship and then defeated the Yankees in the World Series. O’Farrell won season MVP honors. He died in 1988. His sharpie signature is a 10 on the Brace pc. Lot 728. Warren Spahn Autograph in Silver Sharpie on an 8” x 10” photo that contains pictures of his Topps and Bowman cards and a Hartland statue. It also commemorates his 363 career victories. The picture has stains on the right side. The signature is a 10 and would be a great example to frame with another photo. Baseball’s winningest left-hander, Spahn died in 2003. Lot 731. George Brace Photo Postcard Autographed by Smokey Joe Wood. Playing in the early 1900s, Wood was one of the best pitchers in baseball until he injured his arm in 1913. Walter Johnson said that no one could throw harder than Wood. When he could no longer pitch, he moved successfully to the outfield. He coached the Yale baseball team from 1923-42. Wood signed the Brace postcard in blue ballpoint. The signature is a very strong 10 of 10. Wood died in 1985. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
