Lot 304. Autograph of Umpire Steve Palermo on the Cover of the July 6, 1992 SI. Considered one of baseball’s top umpires, Palermo was shot and paralyzed below the waist while trying to stop two muggers. After the shooting, he became one of Major League Baseball’s umpire supervisors and a motivational speaker. Cover only, “#14” added after Palermo’s sharpie 10 autograph. Lot 493. Commemorative 70th Home Run Baseball Autographed by Barry Bonds. One side panel of the ball contains the pertinent information in printed form: “70 HR” on “10/4/01” in a “San Francisco vs. Houston” game against “Pitcher: Walfredo Rodriguez.” Another side panel has a Houston postmark. Bonds’ signature in blue ink occupies the sweet spot and is 9-10 of 10. The ball has Global Authentic sticker #GV 22908; CoA missing. Authenticated for Collectible Classics by Kevin Keating.
